Hi Guys,
I've got my openbox s10 about a month now and It's doing a good job for me, it's set up on my HD tv in the living room...
I've also got my old dm500s. Is there a way that i can use my Dreambox in another room? Both on the same dish...
and if so, will I be able to watch one channel on DM500 and another on Openbox?
thanks in advance for any help....

You can record a channel and watch another if they are on the same transponder. It's not a dual tuner like a vu duo or sly plus.
It won't even let me do that mate... I've seen this video on Youtube, tried his firmware and it still won't work: Simultaneously record function Openbox S10 HD PVR - YouTube -
I've got it recording now... I heard with the s10 you can be recording one channel and watching another, is this bullsh*t?... cos it won't let me change channel without stopping the recording...

Alibaba you're right... they are showing up in the record section! Its just not a very user friendly system, I was hoping a record manager would come up when I press 'record' like it says in the user manual... But since the EPG is so bad, it doesn't really work simply....

It must be a firmware problem lads because the openbox can see the HD and tell me that it has 486Gb free.. but when I press record this stupid message comes up: 'PS' or 'TS'... when I click either and record for more than 2 minutes, nothing is visible in the media player section! I think I have just wasted 50 euro on this drive....

its a usb powered verbatim 500gb

I used a free piece of software called swiss knife!
-
Formatted drive to FAT32 and still the same! Any ideas? I have the latest firmware installed... I hope i don't need to change it cos I spent forever sorting out my channel lists the way I like it, and I don't wanna lose all that.

No i Didn't Mate... that is probably the problem!!!!

Hi guys,
I've just bought a 500gb Verbatim Hard Drive, connected it to my openbox and click record... it asks me do I want to record in 'PS' or 'TS', I selected TS and let it record for a minute.
How do I access these recordings? There appears to be nothing saving to the Hard Drive... also, no record manager feature comes up!
Anything else I need to do to set this up... I was under the impression that it was just plug and record??? Thanks in advance for any advice :) -
Cheers Lads, got it sorted. Here's what I had to do (just in case someone else gets stuck):
Press Menu - Go to Edit channel and press OK - Go to favourites Edit - When in left hand panel press FAV! This then lets you choose the group you want to modify!
All i need to figure out now is how to change the groups order.... -
Thanks Hooley, but ti won't work... I can channel the channel names in that section but not the favourite group name. And if I go into 'favourites edit' section, when I press red to bring up group section, FAVOURITES is greyed out (not available for selection).
-
Thanks a million mate, quick question... When I press the FAV button on my Openbox S10, your list comes up perfectly, but the titles on them are just Fav Group 1, 2, 3, etc....
I dunno how to change the names on these headings in the Favourites editor, because it will only let me rename the first one! Any ideas???? -
Hi Phonix,
I managed to get some software to FTP to Openbox, but there are only FOUR folders (Kernel, System, Ccam plug & Mgcamd plug)...
I dunno where the /etc folder on the openbox... -
I've downloaded the latest firmware (s10 NM HD52 Avatar...), I've unzipped it to the root of my usb, I've placed the USB stick into the openbox, I've gone to 'dump by usb', then 'Misc. Files' on Openbox, but there appears to be no CCcam.cfg file to dump? If I go out of that menu and go to 'upgrade by usb', I can see the CCcam.cfg file then! Any ideas what could be wrong there?
-
Thanks Phonix... I feel like a right pain in the ar$e! I'll work my way through your guide... that'll keep me busy this evening :) cheers again!

It's ok lads, just found out I have to unzip the .rar files!!!
-
Another really stupid question lads, do I unpack the .rar files (channel lsits, etc), or not?
I know on my old Technomate years ago, they weren't unpacked....
