The previously installed 1 TB HDD (which had worked OK for years) became faulty so was replaced with a 1TB WD 10sPCX-08M. I had on hand. It checked out fine on this PC.

This internally mounted HDD is recoignised but fails to completely initialise.

About all my exhaustive searches can find is that maybe WD drives have this problem. I've ordered another 2Tb Seagate ST2000LM007 7mm 2.5" internal SATA 6Gb/s 128Mb laptop Hard Drive and hope this will solve the problem but am posting in case there is something else I should know about and do.

    Help most appreciate thanks

I've got the latest VIX operating system on board the Vu+ Solo2 but the same thing was happening with the earlier version.

Not always, but sometimes the video on a recording freezes. It keeps playing and the audio continues but the video gets stuck. It generally happens after a skip or FF. It could be a problem with the Onkyo preamp processor (5509) or with the internal HDD.

    Any suggestions?

    TIA

At aged 80 in a few weeks, subtitles are becoming increasingly needed because of hearing problems. :06::48_002: I've spent hours trying to see what is wrong with settings but I either get subtitles in all recordings and am barred from disabling them, OR no subtitles and I'm barred from invoking them.

This is info on the installation in the (genuine Korean) VU+ Solo2:
    Black Hole 2.1.7
    Build 15/07/07
    DVB drivers 20150623
    Kernel version 3.13.5
    CPU BCM 7346B2 1305 M2 2 cores

The setup procedure for subtitles appears to depend on the following:

MENU -> SETUP -> SYSTEM -> AUTO LANGUAGE SELECTION SETTINGS

From there one can choose to alter these two to affect subtitles-

    1. Auto language selection &
    2. Subtitle language selection 1

I’ve tried all sorts of combinations, all of which give control on direct view but NONE give control with recordings. With recordings either the subtitles are always there and cannot be controlled or are never there and cannot be invoked.

Here are the combinations tried and the results:

For control of subtitles in direct view but they do not appear or can be invoked on recordings with any of the following combinations:

    1. 1. Set at “original”, 2 set at “undetermined”
    2. 1. Set at “original”, 2 set at “none”
    3. 1. Set at “English”, 2 set at “undetermined”
    4. 1. Set at “English”, 2 set at “none”
    5. 1. Set at “none”, 2 set at “undetermined”
    6. 1. Set at “none”, 2 set at “none” Curiously with this setting subtitles can be displayed on direct view but do not appear on the recording. This could be happening in the above settings – not tested.

For control of subtitles on or off in direct view and they appear on recordings but cannot be turned off in those recordings with any of the following combinations:

    1. 1. Set at “English”, 2 set at “English”
    2. 1. Set at “none”, 2 set at “English”
    3. 1. Set at “original”, 2 set at “English”

Obviously setting subtitle language at "English" is the setting to cause subtitles to appear in recordings but they are barred from being turned off and if "none" is used for subtitle language, unsurprisingly, none appear.

Is there any setting I’m missing? Or do I need some add on or ???

Any help would be most appreciated.
