Yeah both will record to external.....Duo can hold an internal!

and yep Duo will allow you to have 2 inputs so you can watch one and record or watch (via lappy) without causing problems!

All the info is here bud....just takes a clear head and a bit of digging but glad you sorted!

Let us know if you get into any problems but i'm sure you will be ok

I think you have 2 Hopes one Bob the other No :snicker:

These boxes are closed source and unless the originators add the additions i think the chances of hacking/changing them are slim!

These are your typical WYSWYG type boxes, if you want to play around more there are more then enough options avaliable it just a case of costs!

I would pretty much guarantee if Openbox?Slybox did create a box with this type of functionality it would be a lot more in price then they currently are?
    with better/extra hardware to suit!

I remember reading that the EPG issue is specific to us in the UK and the dreaded sly.....i think other areas/sats can get a pretty standard EPG??

If you use these boxes as a simple/second alternative they won#t serve your wrong......if you want to play a bit more look at all the Enigma2 boxes out there!

    But you never know.......

    Yeah kind of like that!

If you get it from our Sponsor (with discount lol) it should be ready to go with any image of your choice!

They should put latest Factory Image on it FOC, from there you can pick any backup/Image you like!

Just a case of downloading it to USB > Switch Off Box > Plug USB in (Format Fat32) > Switch On should see 'reading usb' when completed your good to go!

    £35 Quid! Wow inflation lol

Well you could probably send it here get it done and sent back for that price lol!

Hopefully someone will pop up some info or i will have a word with a friend of a friend lol

Could be anything mate, router updates or the like?

Change all ports/usernames and passwords to something you make up your end, one of the steps to making a safe server!

Let us know if you hit any problems!

Im sure there will be something on the net to do it!

I just took mine to my local 'We unlock Phones' shop! Not sure if you have them near you but there everywhere here lol

They should unlock it all networks for a Tenner!

I think if you jailbreak it you can get it open on all networks also

    Intro Post 1st Mate!

    Intros!

Any ports described in the Tutorials e.t.c should be changed to something of your choice and not left as default!

Ensure all ports are open for the ones you choose....bare in mind some port numbers are reserved so don't conflict with those!

and Restart router/server when making changes!

Don't pay for something you could do yourself?

If that's the case donate it to the forum!!!!....all they will do is put a backup image on it which you may change when you get it anyway!

That's the fun in the Hobby mate!

When you see/use VU you will want it so may be best to keep this and give DM to your peeps!

The functionality of the box (cline, plugins e.t.c) will depend on the Image mate!

I would look at Vu range as Gaz says....but anything Enigma2 and the right image and you should be good to go!

Vix is a nice easy one on the eye so may be a good starting point....and the backup's will give you the Cams and Plugins you require.....usually stated within backup post!

    Is it var/volitile/tmp mate?

there should be shortkey in the root of the folder within DCC with a hand icon that links straight to /tmp

Just ensure your connected correctly because theres a lot more in the /var folder (lib, backups e.t.c)

IMO Purely Cosmetic TBH! Both have Desktop and Sever options so Fancy Menu and Options or basic MSDOS/Linux like commands/prompt!

    Desktop wise!

Ubuntu very flashy, glossy and easy to use like perhaps Win7 lol - Can be a bit of a drain on resources e.t.c on older Pc's / Lappys

Debian Very Basic, does what it needs to do....ideal for older Pc's/Desktops!

I tried both and stuck with Debain! Other user love Ubuntu! Horses for Course but perhaps make a choice dependant on your server spec?

I know with the Vu range using the rs232/USB connection never seemed to work....i wonder if you are having same problem!

I think it needs to be a dedicated rs232 (9pin) port on your computer? i got one off fleabay in the end for about £6 and whacked it in the back of desktop!

They are all much of a muchness.....Three seem to have good deals and EE (Orange and TMobile) are on the offensive so im sure you can pick up a good deal?

If you with a provider give them a call, they may sort out a nice deal.....!

On a different note i wondered what the GPRS on the f4 would be used for? what are your plans/what can be done with it?....the boxes look nice lol!
