I have the addons, but when I select something to run; "script error" or No Server Found. Any suggestions on fixing this problem.

Is there an idiot proof guide for people just starting with XMBC. I have a MyGica 1800e. I follow some of the guides here but my downloaded files I can see on my USB stick. Do the files need to be downloaded with something special? What format does the USB need to be formatted to? Very new to this but willing to learn. Thanks in advance.
