So, can you cs a vm card? i must confess while ive been on satellite ive not even looked....most of my receivers can accept a cable/terrestrial tuner...

to be honest it may be cheaper for yourself to maybe look into obtaining a line from someone reputable for VM as the equipment cost, time cost etc are extraordinary! For example a programmer to read the st chip will set you back around £400 to £500 alone then £150 for the BGA adaptor. If you google or ask around I'm sure you will find someone reputable.

H/W pairing is a much bigger job to crack. I've been told it's possible for €10,000 but I can't imaging that anyone would be prepared to pay that.

Can be done. Wont be done. Would require either. A change of chip that has been flashed with a custom firmware. Or. JTAG and flashing custom firmware. Both way outside the realms of standard users.

just out of interest, I've attempted JTAG of a sky+ hd box, (not my own but one purchased from second hand store) and there is no jtag point to obtain anything from. It does flash up with the name of the box but it also looks like it changes speeds part way through the boot sequence.

I've currently got my up818p out and attempting to read the spansion chip that sky utilise.

If I can obtain any code from it then maybe that is a start to attempt debugging of the system. I have paired the box with an old red sky card that I had lying around that only has free sat programming so I know it has taken the hit.

On a side note, I have also disabled all emms in my oscam configured to attempt to block the killer emms, but only time will tell if that worked as I hadn't disabled them prior to last tuesdays hit.

from what I have read elsewhere and also researched the vu+ duo is similar hardware specs to the sky plus hd DRX890 box, and attempts have been made in the past to try and run enigma on this box, however, lets reverse what has been looked at there: instead of running enigma on the sky box how about compile sky's open source software and write it to a duo, then a debug of the duo booting and reading and writing emm's and ecm's to and from the card. This should in theory give an aes or other key to unlock that particular card using cpu key pairing mechanism. Similar to the nagra 3 methodology of Virginmedia.

This is only a theory and I don't have a duo to trial this with, but I will be more than willing to compile the source code from sky's website for someone to trial AT THEIR OWN RISK.

Ok just a little update, I know people have said not to pair cards back to hd boxes, but I had to check something myself in order to attempt to retrieve some information from the hd box.

I inserted one of my cards into my sky plus hd box and paired it through the remote as my entitlements ran out.

Once I did this my card opened channels on my sky box but one thing I noticed was the only SD channel for sports was sky sports 1, and no SD version of sky Atlantic either.

This to me suggests it is what we have all feared for a while and is full HD pairing.

SD channels look to be on the way out so I have a SD box on route in which to pair a brand new card with that has not been activated yet but was only received yesterday. This card is being kept away from all boxes until I receive my SD box. Once I've got it I can trial that pairing and maybe come back with a bit more info.

I know this may not help a lot but at least it's constructive to a point.

If I can help in any way at all just let me know.

I think it would be worth while if people could let everyone know which box they are using as I have Zgemma h2h and Openbox v8s and the zgemma has automatically changed the transponders to working channels. Where as the openbox is unable to do so without updating channel lists.

check the transponders being used on your Zgemma?

The ABM will automatically update the channels from alternative transponders and therefore if they are still clearing on those, clear them otherwise they will also remain dark.

my Zgemma automatically updates the transponders however i dont watch the channels that arec currently dark so im not sure at the minute what transponders they are called from. if i get time at some point i will attempt to get the correct transponders for people and drop them into a file so that you can edit the channel list on an openbox.
