Hi can anybody help, got blank screen on all sats for all pay channels, has been working fine till turned box on today, no picture or sound just epg + signal bar which is fine. fta working fine , signal strengh fine, does not come up scrambled. dont know to much about box just general stuff like setting up sats, any help would be great. thans peter

Hi everyone im having loads of problems with my damm amiko alien runnig pauldbs backup of hdmu. im really struggling to get many channels and the epg never really works allthough sometimes it does work with fta channels
so any help is greatly appreciated and just to clear this up my cables are fine ive tested on a amiko micro and a amiko mini and they are good. my dish is good as it picks up all the channels on the other boxes stated above and my sly box works perfect as well so problems lie with the alien.
its the fact that it finds just the one movies channel that ponders me and it never seams to find the sly sports 2 or boxnation aswell. ive rn auto bouquets so many times now ive lost count same with doing a auto scan it finds 600 channels nearly and same problem. thanks

Anyone any ideas on this please
I've not been getting the EPG working on many of the channels for some reason. The usual free channels like BBC 1-4, ITV, Channel 4, 5, More4 etc seem to get a full EPG download however the rest of the channels such as Sky One, National Geographic and every other channel are missing EPG data.
Is anyone else getting the same problem?

im trying to ftp my 1st ipk to my alien 2 now its the iptv one from the downloads section on this site so what ive done is the following..
downloaded ipk
extracted the ipk
used 7zip t extreact again and i was left with...
debian binary
and 2 other rar folders.
ive now extracted the 2 rar folders named control and data .tarwhich left me with a usr folder and a control file.
now ive dug down into the usr folder and got to the end after ententions and found the iptv folder .
now question is .
is that the folder i just send to same destination on my box restart box and done or do i need the control file or the binary files?
sorry for dumb question but this is my 1st ipk manual install cheers everyone

If the plugin comes as just a folder then FTP it to /usr/lib/enigma2/python/plugins/extensions/ folder..
sounds daft but what now ? how do ou run it or do you just restart box and its working?
Paul on your pics on first post when your on the now and next screen bbc one. How do you get the picture on end after turbo? It looks ace and m8ne just says new sly skin image cheers
What feed is in the back, e2 is a lot more finicky than spark,

Unless you take a direct feed from the dish and not use the sly box in the middle we won't know exactly what is going on
Both feeds are into the alien and the sly box is off at the wall and has no leads init at all.
When i try that and scan for channels is dont find any? Its not til i put tuner b on and turn other 2 off that it does the full auto scan and finds 600ish channels thank you for reply
Only queery tho is backip beofre i was using and spark finds the channels fine yet enigma 2 dont? Thats whats pondring me
hi there ive just flashed my box with a enigma2 backup rom the image section on here now its all set up and working fine but im missing loads of channels, to name a few sly sports 2 boxnation all movies dave and so on now ive done a full scan and that didnt help get them back and ive run autobouquets and that didnt help either so im not sure what to do.
my setup is amiko alien 2
fixed sly at 28.2
my bouquets is set to my region granada
my tuners are set to
tuner a ... nothing connected
tuner b .... all the info it gives when you choose it (sorry im using phone and from memory)
tuner c...... nothing connected
id like to know if using the catseyes channel list would help but i dont know how to use dreamedit and im in way over my head with that.
any ideas anyone as i want to watch dave later for david hayes fight and its currently giving me tun failed .
on plus side many channels do work paid and none paid
and if it help s im using mgcamd

Quick note its not starting properly. Ive had it on fine most of this afternoon and i decided tonturn it off and see if it came on again. Now i pressed button on remote (quick press) and then turned switch off at back.
i now decided to flick switch again to see what happend and it left it stuck on clock again. Remote and none of the buttons on box did anything so i flicked switch off again and held middle button and turned on and same nothing just clock and no buttons worked .
so this time i powerd off and truned back on but this time holding the standby button on front of box and it started to boot as normal :-€?
Sorry for droning on but i tried again with holding standby just to see and it failed again just the clock. So i then held standby and did a quick flick on n off and back on agakn at back of box and that seems to work every other time now but what and why is this happening?
just like to say its back on now i did the following not that i think i did it any good but here goes.....
put usb in back port
i had it turned off at wall for 10 mins
i then turned it on and it was still stuck on clock so i left it another 15 minuets
i then held down the power/stanby buton
and power cycled the back switch on the box and low and behold it said boot and then booted to my image.
and ideas on why this happend and how to prevent it

what does "turned my box off as normal" entail?
There should be no "clock" until an image is loaded - just boot info if the box was unplugged/switched off...
Maybe time to connect a serial cable to see what is going on...
off as normal is i pressed the power button on the remote and then switched off the back switch on the box. i npower it off completely when not in use as my mrs uses the sly box
hey everyone so yesterday my box was fine and up and running and i used it to record a program in the midleof the night which has recorded fine, this morning i took out my usb to use on pc and turned my box off as normal. now ive come to use box again to watch the footy it just wont boot on anything e2 or spark it just gets stuck on the clock?
nothing has been changed by me or anyone else since it worked last night so anyone any ideas what this could be??
using alien 2 on hyperion 4.5

and im not sure what other info anyone may need.
ive tried serveral times to reboot ive tried turning off at wall and at back of box, holding middle button does nothing and ive tried usb in front and back slots to for sake of trying everything?

There is no server for openTV epg. Data is on the satellite.
Just been informed that by pauldb aswell. Makes me ponder why then it didnt work but im happy its randomly decided to work again
So check this out . Ive changed nothing at all since my original post and ive just decided to trybout opentv for epg and it started to download and now it works ??? So what on earth went on? Was the server for epg down or what as i have no idea?
Make sure your time is correct and make sure your recording directory exists, is writable and has space...
Times correct and dir has space to record. I tried a record on live tv inwas watching and that recorded just fine. Just not recording when i set a timer
So my epg is not working as many may know. Now im wanting to record the ufc at 3am later to watch in morning. Now ive gone to set a yimer as a practice to see if its working and i tried.to record for half hour as a set timer and it didnt work? It just said "waiting" on the timer menu??
All the timer settings are good and usb is selected and mounted so any ideas on recording the ufc ?

So ive two cables from fixed dish. 1 goes into sly one goes into alien. Then using one of my shorter cables that came with my splitter which im now going to stop using goes into the sly other hole and then into the loop hole underneath the cable thats in alien.
i understand that sly has to be off as thats how it was on my amiko micro i was using before the alien and so long as it works better than using the splitter and the sly still works and records for the other half then im all for it.
You cannot use splitters with satellite cables (unless you are using a Unicable LNB). Voltages are sent to the LNB, splitters usually stop these signals going to the LNB. They normally only have one port which allows the power to go through. If you must alternate where the signal goes to, better to use a full isolation switch.
Whats the best setup i can do with the 2 fixed sly dish cables and ive got the splitter which ill remove but then it leaves me 2 shorter cables to use ?? Also whats loop through holes for on back of box ? Arnt they for avoiding using a splitter
Either way it needed the .cfg file I think
