i have an e2 image preloaded with oscam
it keeps dropping, it will come on for a few minutes then drop out again
It says connected in the oscam web interface then says unknown
can somebody please help me to configure the other files so i can rule that out
i use a payserver for s*y uk, i need to make sure i have the correct confg/dvapi/services/user configuration
any help would be greatly appreciated as i am about to fling the box under a bus at this stage

Display MoreFrom past experience with both an Alien 2 and an nBox 5800SX i have come to the conclsuion that MGCamd doesn't easily decode two streams at the same time. OSCam handles the decoding of multiple streams a lot better than MGCamd does.
OSCam works better than MGCamd if its setup correctly. People who state that OSCam is sh*t usually don't now how to setup or can't be bothered to set up OSCam correctly. Beacuse OSCam isn't more or less plug and play like MGCamd is most people don't bother with it as its easy to setup MGCamd where as you have to use your grey matter to setup OSCam.
OSCam handles CWs better than MGCamd ever has and It also has constant development which is something that cannot be said for MGCamd. MGCamd also cannot decode from a card, you have to use a card reader like NewCS or OSCam to allow it make use of a local card.
The Amiko Alien cannot run native CCCam, it won't run on a SH4 chipset like the Amiko Alien boxes use, That also explains why most people use OSCam or MGCamd onthese boxes, purely because CCCam won't run on them. And before somebody states that CCCam works in Spark, it doesn't. The CCCam in Spark is a modified version of MGCamd that reports itself as CCCam.
I run OSCam on its own on both my nBox 5800s and my DM800Se and it works perfectly on both boxes and is 100% stable all of the time so unfortunatey Stejay i will have to disagree with your statement stating OSCam is sh*t.

I disagree with your assumption that I was just lazy in choosing mgcamd, I tried 3 different images the latest from Champion who I know from another forum, heis a keen supporter of oscam and he has it set up already in his image but still I get nothing but freezes with it
Mgcamd doesnt freeze as much for some reason.The line I'm using is absolutely terrible which I dont doubt has a lot to do with it but I'M tied in for another month so need to make the best of a bad situation in that regard
I have also tried numerous different oscam.server and .user files and all had the same outcome. So after a lot of trial and error I started using Mgcamd

As above-i have oscam working fine watching one and recording another
but it doesnt work using mgcamd. A friend set up the oscam on a custom image which i use, but i got mgcamd afterwards

Is there any way to have say a sports ticker that shows the latest news on the end of the screen no matter what channel you have on, or am I dreaming?
I heard of a plugin called 'tuxnews' that does it but its not in my blue button download's

It does not sound like the problem is with the dm500, it could be as simple as interference on the line. You could try fitting a filter-plate as described in this thread.

I was hoping someone could help me get to the bottom of an ongoing problem im having while CS
I have a dm500s and for the past 8 or so months all has been fine, ecm times average around 0.18 or so
But about a month ago they started jumping all over the place anywhere from 0.18 one minute up as far as 1.8 the next
So first i contacted the server and he assured me there were no problems at his end and other users were having no problems-so just to be sure i used a different servers c line to check and that one was the exact same maybe even a little worse
Then I thought it was the box so i upgraded to a VU+ solo to see would that do better-but no it stayed the exact same
SO then I bought a new ethernet cable and that didnt work either, then it was on to a new router- that also didnt make a bit of difference
I have run numerous pingtest.net tests a speed tests and all is fine
I also checked the SNR and BER and it reports fine, all channels signal are above 90%
If I reset my router all is fine for around 3 hours then the ecms start jumping again. I have sold the VU+ now and am back using the dm500s
This problem is driving me insane. Is there any other problem areas I might of overlooked?

No, you will get a black screen and the image wont load, it will work fine by trying to upgrade the bootloader again.
Dont be afraid to try the new image, you wont brick it unless you flash an image for DUO or Ultimo, even then it can be fixed with the great help of this forum.
Thanks for your help mate i appreciate it, I flashed the blackhole image mentioned above and all is fine at the moment, it flashed no problem (makes me think it was sucessful earlier at upgrading the bootloader), so I might try flash the latest images later on if i get bored of this one
Are there many advantages to the new images that require the upgraded bootloader?

You can use Blackhole 1.6.6, ViX Solo Image v2.3 - 19/10/2011 or any of the older images.
Upgrade is successful when it flashes like this, now try to flash the latest image.

Ill just flash it with one of the old images to be safe, hopefully that will work
You will need to flash the bootloader if you are going to try latest ViX or BlackHole image.
Backup image is basically a full image with cams, plugins, channel lists etc added, that are not included in official images.
Is there any image i can flash that doesnt need the bootloader upgrade? Dont need anything fancy just need a new image as the one on it is unusable
Display MoreThe latest VTI image for solo is dated 09.10.2011, it doesnt use this bootloader so i doubt your solo will have it pre-loaded.
Download the cfe_solo_2.0.zip, right click on the file and extract HERE with winrar, you will see a folder named VUPLUS, copy and paste this folder to your USB drive.
Switch off the solo and add the USB drive to the front port, switch back on, flashing the bootloader should only take a few seconds.
Green led will flash on front panel when upgrade is complete, make sure no other USB devices or sticks are connected.
If it doesnt upgrade try another USB stick as sometimes these boxes can be very picky even with sticks that have previously worked fine.

I only have the one usb stick at the moment i borrowed it for the task, i formatted it to fat32 made the directories and every time the red light comes on the turns green and keeps flashing non stop
No need to upgrade bootloader mate
if you have problem with your image i say lash one good back up from backup section it will save you a lot of time

Hi guys im new here
Signed up after i bought a VU+ solo
Im trying to update the bootloader before flashing an image because the VTI image on there already is very buggy and causes alot of green screens
But when i formatted the usb stick to FAT32 and made the directories as stated here http://linuxsat-support.com/vu…-boot-loader-upgrade.html
All that happens is the front led keep flashing non stop, i have tried it a hundred times but no difference
Is there something im missing?
Also how do you know if your bootloader hasnt already been updated because i only bought it two weeks ago and the seller flashed it with VTI image for me
