Hmm, sounds like it'd be better as a second box rather than a first.

Think I'll advise to spend a few extra quid & get a dm800, much more scope with that, & at least I can help him with first hand experience.

    Ouch!

I hope that dosnt happen to mine, but thus far it's been fine, we had 60 mph winds a few weeks back & it survived so fingers crossed. I've made sure not to risk turning it when it is that bad though, no point tempting fate.

Nice set up mate and for that price it's excellent. What's it like when the winds pick up?

It's been great, very, very occasional glitching if the wind & rain is really heavy, but last time it was that bad I switched to my static s*y minidish & the signal from there was worse!

Anyone got any good tips for syncing commentary from R5 (or elsewhere) to foreign video?

I used to have a link to a BBC R5 live link that worked through Real player but cant find it, anyone got that?

Right, i'bve done some digging (pretty much made my eyes bleed reading the xbmc wiki & trying to understanding coding speak) & there's no chance of getting xbmc on a new apple tv, it's the computer equivalent of trying to run an electric car on petrol.

Ah well, looks like I need to research some small lightweight cheap pcs instead.

The Inverto black ultra is a great high gain low noise lnb, well worth the higher price imho.

    Is this it?

    Seems a bit cheap....

Next question, how easy is this to change? I got a sat fitter to install my dish & he replaced the lnb in return for me loading sky bouquets onto his dm800, (the fella knew everything abouty installing systems but sweet FA about the boxes themselves), I'm assuming it's just more or less a plug & play job?

Ok, you can do it on the same network to a pc easily using vlc as above, but to do it over the net I use Orb (there's an app for the iphone) & a capture card.

You only need orb live free cos it randomly picks channels, but as your dreambox only sends one channel (the one your dreambox is watching) & you can change it remotely over the net (I use dreamote app for the iphone) that isnt a problem.

    Here's my set up.

It's a 1m motorised dish, I actually dont know the name of the motor but it's metal, heavy & seems very good quality. The dish has 'satcatcher' written on.

I bought it for ?32. Yes, ?32! An eBay bargain, had to drive 12 miles to pick it up but worth it. The lnb stopped working after a few weeks so replaced it with a bog standard sky lnb that seems to do the trick, but I do wonder if a better lnb may be worth it.

The dish has no dents or obvious rusting & it's all in very good nick, very happy indeed!

Ok, I have a dm500 upstairs for FTA but may wanna use it for others in future, after loads of googling & scratching my head I have sqlite epg working. Ish.

It only seems to display the first x amount of channels in the list where you pair up with your bouquets so I cant get them all to work?

Help would be nice cos it's doing my head in!

This is puzzling me, I cant find any signal from this sat, despite me having a 1m dish & seeming to get every other sat I think I should, including 16e.

Looking at lyngsat I think I should be getting it, am I reading it wrong?
