    Question on understanding how the EMU works. I got a number of channels with PowerVU working. On one particular transponder some channels are working and others are not. On the ones that are working it took awhile for the EMU to sort everything out and others simply are not resolving. Here is the question that I have. Look at a couple of lines of the livelog;

    The particular channel that is not resolving is at the beginning of the log snip and it's called Fam/Pulse. And then the channel that I switched to and is decoding is called Sports. The thing is the channel not decoding is not the Family channel and the one that is resolving is not the Sports channel. The first one actually is a major media news channel and the one not resolving is actually that major media business channel.

    Question is why isn't the log showing the real name of the channel? On another PVU mux all channels show up in the log for what they actually are. Just trying to understand what I'm seeing.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Gang;

    What would be the right Oscam-Emu for an Octagon SF8008 running on OpenVix? There are so many choices...I think this receiver would be considered an ARM processor but not sure. Also not knowing what I was doing I installed an Oscam from the feeds and found a config folder which I dumped into ect/Tuxbox.

    Question. Is the Oscam-Emu as standalone Cam so I would need to uninstall the Oscam and config folder or should I just leave it alone? In addition I'm assuming I would need to use stream relay or no? Am in the U.S. and would mainly be interested in PowerVu and perhaps Biss.

    Thanks in advance for any pointers as there are a lot of options and pretty easy to do the wrong one. LOL!!

    Hi;

    I did try the DCC program [at work now going from memory] and I think #8 was to delete the folder and it didn't work. I'll look at it again tomorrow. I don't have a problem using FTP into the box as far as the password but I was thinking that the telnet password was probably buried into the firmware by Octagon to keep people from bricking the box. But, I'll try it again tomorrow.

    Thanks!

    Hi all;

    Bit of a problem launching Kodi. I know from reading that often when Kodi fails to launch you have to delete the hidden .kodi folder and then reinstall or restart Kodi. I have an Octagon SF8008 and Kodi is failing to start. Using my FTP program I unhide the hidden directories but when I try to delete the hidden folder I get a '505 error' and unable to delete tag. It would appear that I don't have the necessary permissions to delete the hidden folder.

    No problem. Just go to the folder and CHMOD to 777 or similar. I highlight the info tab and I already have read/write permission. All three categories of owner/group/user show that all three can read/write the folder. And yet when I try to delete it says that I don't have permission. There is a recursive box that I can tic and when I do that everything just times out. The Kodi folder is located by default in the internal flash drive under media media/hdd/.kodi

    So I'm kind of at a loss. I've tried different FTP programs and even downloaded some file extensions and tried to do it within the operating system and it simply won't let me. I'm wondering if I have to telnet into the box and execute a command line but to try to telnet from an external computer via SSH it's asking for a password and I have no idea what Octagon sets for a default password. Currently using OpenVix but I've tried other images as well and all of them simply won't let me delete that file. Instead of the whole folder I've even tried deleting the individual user files and same issue.

    If I could reinstall kodi but direct it to store it's hidden files on my external hard drive I'd go that route but have no idea how to make it use the external drive for plugins instead of the internal flash drive.

    Any of the guru's have any ideas?

    Thank you. I had tried that but no joy. So I re-flashed the receiver and now it's working fine. I must of screwed something up that I didn't realize.

    Thanks again..

    What are the default FTP values for this box? I've used Dreambox Editor I think it was called and had no problems using the default values for an Icecrypt and Zgemma receiver but am unable to connect with either the editor or even with a remote standalone FTP program. I 'think' the default user name is: root and default pw is: root. It will ping the box successfully when I hit the right IP address thru my Lan but errors on the connect indicating either a bad username or pw.

    Any ideas? :/
