    I am in the same situation as the OP. I received a new (black) viasat card (and box).

    After reading here, I dusted off my old viasat box (Pace DS230NV) and tried to activate the card.

    This sort of worked. I mean I did get picture on some obscure channels, but not f.ex. TV3/TV3+.

    I get the following message on screen:

    You are not autherized to watch this channel on this receiver. Wrong smartcard for this receiver.

    Your STB ID is [0210xxx], your card ID is [0171xxx].(14)

    I figured, I would try the card in my VU+ Solo2, which already has Oscam-emu running.

    I created the boxid from the old (11-digit) STB-ID by chopping off the last digit, converting to hex and adding '0' to make it 8 hex digits.

    I cleared /etc/tuxbox/config, uploaded the files in post #2, edited boxid and started oscam.

    As you can see in the attached log, oscam reads the card fine and also lists entitlements, but nothing clears, and I get the error:

    2017/12/28 18:47:15 3455E92F r   (reader) VIASAT [videoguard2] classD3 ins54: no cw --> Card needs pairing/extra data

    which would imply incorrect boxid.

    Do I need to activate the card in my new HD box (Arris DZS3000NV)?

    Since that box only has a "small" card reader, I have to punch out the chip from the card to insert it into the box.

    The real challenge will then be to "reassemble" the card, so I can use it in my Solo2. :huh:

    And will the card work when paired to a HD box?

    TIA

    This will create a complete backup .zip file, which can be couch flashed with Blue button (Flash).

    If you want to flash via USB just copy the .zip file to PC and extract to USB.
