  • Exporting Channel List From S9 to S16 -- IMPOSSIBLE

    I have spent HOURS trying to import and export any channel list made before on Alieditor to the S16, and when you apply their template it messes with everything and is IMPOSSIBLE to import any channel list..

  • S16 ---- worst box --- do not buy

    have used the box for two months.


    I can honestly say, I LOVE box's potential, it has a great picture quality and is better than the S9 3602.


    However, I can say that this box's Firmware, regardless of CHN or ENG versions, IS H - O - R - R - I - B - L - E and makes you wonder if the developers are 4 year old's learning to script or this is their very first attempt at making firmware. The menus have changed, logos and backgrounds change, there is little continuity between them. Motorized DOES NOT WORK, if you getting the box to just use on one satellite, sure. Sure, all FW can change, that's the idea.... The purpose of saying this about the FW is to show that the developer or developer(s) do not have a clear roadmap or have spent anytime in planning this out in anyway or manor, which would mean, unless someone or group took this box serious and put up resources to support it and release it's potential than this box is going to be a BRICK for 99% of everyone that was hoping and purchased it based upon specs and experience with the S9.


    If you want to use this for NewCamd - FORGET ABOUT IT
    If you want to use this for FTA - Motorized - FORGET ABOUT IT
    If you want EPG - FORGET ABOUT IT
    If you want decent DVR abilities - Pretty Good
    If you want to use this for FTA - Fixed - Great box!


    Great news, DHCP does work now so you don't have to configure a static anymore!


    If some support is thrown behind this box and time and some resources spent, this is one hell of a box!


    Oh, my latest experience is with CHN 1016, backed up DataBase and updated FW to 1020, surprise, all my channels gone, lists, configurations GONE.. Why? 1016 dumped an empty userdb, so there was nothing to import.


    So I get to setup 42 Satellites all over again...

    I don't go by maincode where it says S3606, I have seen it change depending on FW used.


    By the way, NewCamd does not work... I am rolling back to CHN 1016, I do like the fact that the channels are now displaying over the whole screen, noticed IKSserver but parts are greyed out so it must be a new feature yet to be implemented. Overall I think there may be a slight speed increase but that could be due to them not exporting and importing the DB right and all the time I had was one sat.


    And I looked at the CHN 1016 DB Backup made, empty. So, this could mean that the failure actually was not 1020 but CHN 1016 and it's failure to dump the db right. I will be keeping an eye on that.

    I did my part, I backed up my user database, I was careful to make sure I had a back up.


    I updated allcode with 1020, they don't give enough consideration to making sure the DB's can be restored.


    So, I have LOST ALL MY SATELLITES, ALL CHANNELS, EVERYTHING!


    So, I have to spend 4 hours setting up 42 Satellites all over again, etc.


    They added more support for new features, but it will be a while before I can test because I get to setup my box ALL OVER AGAIN!

    I have tried all versions that are on the forum up to this release and DHCP did not and NewCamd did not work...


    Hmm, are you in N. America? We are using the same box, I don't know how this could be explained... I can tell you 100% that upto this release, NewCamd did NOT work at all. CCcam did..


    Symantics, I am very happy that NewCamd is working.. Motorized still is not as when enabled the Menu will no longer allow editing of satellites.

  • Newcamd Nightmare!

    I have the SAME issue xs09...


    Newcamd is NON-WORKING, DHCP is NON-WORKING, Motorized is NON-WORKING and Menu for Setup Antenna is BROKEN as of FW Sept. 14th 2012.

  • Open Box S16 - How Do You Back Up channel list ?

    It is under the Channel Editor Menu, backup from there.


    They removed DUMPING... I don't understand why they screwed up and broke a menu and configuration that was great on the S9... S9 was terrific!!....


    S16 has great potential and has best picture quality I have seen yet, but they took the s9's menu and configuration and broke it to SH*T

  • Open box s16 so frustrating

    I too have experienced the SAME ISSUE.


    I have never seen a box with soooooooooooooo many basic items NON-WORKING..


    I have tried to use Alieditor even with this box and it will update and then reboot loop...


    So, I had to manually enter every single satellite on the belt, then beacon each, scan each and then setup from there...


    What's even worse is that I am a BUD user and need motorized, enable that and you cannot edit any satellite that you have configured and the box will not FTA at all with Motorized enabled.


    I absolutely LOVE the picture quality, I have not seen better.... BUT, the developers broke a menu and configuration of the S9HD, Newcamd, DHCP and Motorized DO NOT WORK as of the latest FW released on Sept. 14th 2012...

    As of right now; I am confused about how they are proceeding with FW versions.


    So, i am going to try to help everyone to be on the same page.


    1. FW releases had been released with the 2.2, 2.7, 2.8, 2.8.1, 2.11 sequence
    2. FW releases have also been released OPENBOX-S16_091xxxxxxxxxxxxxx sequence; As of today there are two on this forum.


    OPENBOX-S16_0914.rar and OPENBOX-S16_0915.rar ~~ Both when opened have the same *.abs file in the rar and made on 9/28 @ 8:58AM


    3. FW releases of OPENBOX-S16_091xxxxxxxxxxxxxx have been made and released in month of September 2012
    4. FW releases of OPENBOX-S16_091xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Show 2012-9-14 as the MainCode date
    5. FW releases of OPENBOX-S16_091xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Show in Information and 11111 = S/W - S3606H-1.0.0.0(2012-9-14)


    I am on S/W - S3606H-1.0.0.0(2012-9-14) - At this time NewCamd, DHCP, Motorized all DO NOT WORK


    I hope this provides clarity for translation to Chinese and for those whom are tracking to have a firm idea of what and where we are on what FW..

    ========Experience=======


    I have a BUD, I have a C/KU Lnb w/22Khz Switch...


    I had to manually move my BUD to each sat, enter each sat, enter beacon, search and after I was done with belt than went back to enter POSITIONS for each sat and the box did not work on any sat.


    Basically what I am trying to explain is that this box has the setting for Motorized but it is really NON-FUNCTIONAL - DO NOT WORK


    I love the picture on it, even does 4:2:2 (according to Lyngsat) on Anik F1/F1R, Does Reelz without the pauses, etc. GREAT in many ways. BUT, NewCamd DOES NOT WORK,MOTORIZED DOES NOT WORK, DHCP DOES NOT WORK


    ====== Recommendations to Developer =======


    COPY the menu's and settings and "experience" from S9... S9HD made sense, did work and all the above worked flawlessly for YEARS and then move forward with your new features.. But don't BREAK what WAS WORKING on the S9HD... IMHO

    No, this is OPENBOX-S16_0914.... I have already tried OPENBOX-S16_0915.... I will back up userdb (I have a motorized BUD and is a nightmare with S16 for motorized..Menu's are broken and non-functional..)


    I wish their dev's visited this forum so I could make bug reports..


    Im going to try and report back but from what I can tell, NewCamd is NON-WORKING according to my seller from the manufacture... CCcam is working okay but not NewCamd...

    That is named wrong.. OPENBOX-S16_0914 when it is the same OPENBOX-S16_0915 file made on 9/28 @ 8:58AM


    So, yes, that is the current FW I have loaded which is the latest that I have been able to locate.


    I will be watching the S16 FW thread for updates.

  • OpenBox S16 & NewCamd

    I would say that the OpenBox series are just that, an Open Ali chipset for anyone to manufacture and put out.... I am impressed with years of service from my Ali3602 (OpenBox S9HD)... I have found a Ali3602A and carefully watched videos with the chipset and almost exactly the same setup and options, etc. and a revision helped in bringing new features...


    So, in my opinion I believe that the Ali3606C chipset has great potential but the FW must be completely dropped from the disaster it IS today into the features that have made 3602 be so successful. IMHO...
