Thanks for updating on your experience Countermeasure I remember reading this thread 6 months ago and it had some useful ideas.

I don't really record my IPTV but on my Octagon box it's ok for programmes IF the stream is reliable. Another trick is to have multiple services and record the same channel on both and you have twice the chance of getting a successful recording. I don't know what channels you're trying to record but the alternative is to invest in a service with decent catch up, you can also download the catch up recording to keep it for longer. My service has a few US and canadian channels.

I'm not super clued up on the US box market but I think there's a ZGemma box with ATSC which would at least get your over the air channels natively and the recording will work ok on those, guide data may be an issue though.

Thanks I'll have a look at those files and hopefully I can bring something together.

Nothing wrong with the source data - I'm just ending up with correct data being overwritten when EPG Importer runs. If there's a better epg source for news channels etc aby data in english on Astra 1 than Rytec I'm interested but happy to make do with it as not that many channels I watch/need EPG data there for.

I've been looking around and can't find a good solution to this.

I have my custom boquets set up with Astra 2/Astra 1/IPTV mix, main Astra 2 EPG coming in through OpenTV via CrossEPG fine, IPTV comes in via my provider or if missing Rytec assigned with Jedi Maker.

The issue I'm having is for Astra 1 channels, to get the EPG I need to enable the Rytec news channel source in EPG Importer for a few channels like BBC World News, DW English and CGTN Documentary. However this is causing OpenEPG data to be overwritten for all the Astra 2 news channels often in the wrong language or off schedule (e.g. for RT UK). I also get BBC Parliament showing the same EPG as BBC News but I'm not sure what's to blame for that.

I think E-Channeliser is a solution but I can't really justify buying it just to do around 4-5 channels of EPG data.

Could anyone suggest a solution to just import EPG for those few channels?

I've been using EPG urls from this site for Pluto and Stirr, seems to update reliably: https://i.mjh.nz/

However I've noted you might only get a few hours of data so I've had to change my EPG Import to run at around 4pm to ensure I have data through the evening, if I run it in the morning I often find there's no data by the afternoon.

Not sure why you've asked in French lol

But you can get into recovery by using the remote control (hold any button whilst connecting power until "updt" appears)

Then try a different recovery image, and check ethernet works after that.

Hi everyone, I answer for the info that can be useful to others, it comes from the fact that I test images of sf8008 on my Octagon sf8008mini, it almost always works except with some which change the keyboard .... lol ...

Yeah had similar things. Seems some images don't seem to check well for Mini version.... including Define OS, which reports 8GB Flash (which is wrong)...

Yeah, it's on the side. My issue is I got stuck after loading an image, I was pushing it while booting/connecting power (no power switch on the mini) and couldn't do anything to get to the recovery menu.

Eventually, I discovered the remote can be used, but hardly something I want to rely on in case something causes the IR sensor to stop responding. Unlike the full box there's no front power button to use to get to the recovery menu.

Only got my box last week so I really want to discover how it is meant to work, quick press? press and hold? how long to wait after turning on the power? - and make sure my recovery switch isn't faulty!

I like the idea of putting a little bolt in to make it easier to press... might do that if I need it a bit

On the SF8008 you have to power on with the switch and immediately press the recovery button, not both at the same time.

So power, then a quick press, or press and hold? Would be good to get the knack of it as on the mini there are no other buttons, don't like relying on the remote...

I had this today, stopped working. I think it's somehow updated to SF8008 firmware which uses different ethernet (that one has gigabit). I'm now stuck trying to get the right recovery on as my recovery switch is being weird. Stumped, might send it back if this happens again :/

This one is baffling me a lot, I have assumed the recovery button should just be pressed while connecting the power to get into the recovery menu/flash the device

However it seems really random this working, I'm not sure if I'm pressing it at the wrong time or what, but it's causing a problem with trying to play with images etc so I'm not sure if I've managed to get one with a dodgy switch?

Everything online refers to the full size SF8008 but this box doesn't have any power button etc.

Edit: Just to add I found out you can use the remote to get into the recovery menu by pressing any key on startup (had to Google translate the official forum) but I'd still like some clarity on exactly how the side pen-push button works, as I'd like to know if I there is a problem with it sooner rather than later!
