I have never actually tried this, but if you have only got 1 tuner, you might need both zap and record.
Out of paranoia I would click the record button. Then the edit button and checkbox zap and record.

Thank you! I'm unable to edit a timer, I can only click on "add timer" icon from the EPG but if I click the edit icon the webif interface hangs (crashes). This is the same issue that I experience if I just click "add a timer" from the main webif interface. The only way for me to set a timer is by going to the EPG windows and from there I select a program and add its timer (without editing). I don't know why the other options just don't work...

    Panda555 Hello my friend :)
Yes, what I mean is that I'm unable to set a timer by the OpenWebif interface. I don't need to record to a remote device (I know this is not possible), I'd like to set a timer even when I'm not home.

The Webif interface has a "Timer" section but when I click on "Add new timer" there's no option to select which channel to record, I can only give a name to the timer and set the start and end time. This is from the regular Webif interface... If I use the "mobile" version it gets even worse as there's NO option to add a new timer.

If the channel to be recorded has epg available, have you tried doing it through the epg button?

After pressing the epg button you will see 5 icons. Press on the top left hand one and just wait a few seconds until the add a timer window comes up.

Thanks Pete29871 , that worked! I couldn't find the five icons but I went to the EPG, selected a program and from there I could create a new timer for the selected TV show.
BTW do you know what's the difference between "add a zap timer" and "add a timer" ?

    Hello,
my SF8008 (ATV 6.4) is reachable from the web, I correctly enabled port routing and when I type in its URL on my smartphone or notebook the OpenWebif interface shows up. The only issue is that I am unable to schedule a recording... The operation always fails, the interface becomes unresponding or returns some error...
Whats is the best / safest way to schedule a recording when you aren't home ?
    Thanks
