    Open Pli for me
    I have tried many images on my box...most have crashed at some point while trying plugins or just configuring (some of the times it could have been user error on my part as I was a newbie...who knows)
    I even had Pli Jade 3 crash, but not the open Pli image ever
    A word on the gemini image. Most will know not to use after 4.2 with a clone box...I have tried the non bomb versions and had transponder time issues with all (I live in UK and it wouldn't sync to our time)
    Nabilosat have many different flavours, but didn't have much of a choice for epg and crashed quite often...it seems to be popular for the skins...I liked the feature of an extra light bar with realtime cccam connection info
    Eagle was pretty solid but plain
    Everybody wants their own thing from the image and some have what you want while others don't...or you may find features in different images that you like, but not all in one
    While I have opted for the open Pli image in my vote...I think the gemini image is the easiest to use for newbies and the menu system is simpler, but the nabilosat go more for the looks and styles

  • Banning certain ip

    A word of warning for newbies and experienced also
    Check out who you share with...you only need to get the shares you want...ie, if you have a fixed dish in uk on 28.2e...why get other shares that you don't use...this is a hobby, but have some sense...give to get...that's sharing
    Don't share with payservers...in fact don't use them....if they get caught....your details are there also...recent events on ecs will show you this

  • Standard EPG

    /tmp is normally used for putting tar.gz or other install files
    once installed...they are removed...hence it being temporary

  • Helpful for tracking intruders on your receiver

    I was on the understanding that tmp was cleared on a reboot...so if you have checked and are happy...it will start afresh
    a reboot is a good idea every so often with any computer equipment
    you could ftp the file to computer periodically if you want to save the logs

  • Standard EPG

    It seems to work like that on all images for now and next mate. I have tried plenty. You have to change channels before it shows on menu.
    If you use red button while on a channel it will show more info...but seems to hang back till you have visited the channel
    For Pli sqlite is good
    Try weekepg for others
    Rytec i never got working but didn't persist with it
    There were some other good ones, but they shut down their servers as it was hard work to keep up
    DM500 isn't equiped well for epg

    Many people don't know that these files are incompatible to play back unless the extension is changed
    It is possible to record direct as a ts file also...watch for tut
    To chmod guys either use telnet or an ftp program that will give you permission changes like filezilla or dcc is popular
