this is the regular/original (mmc.zip) version and the new boot (recovery_emmc.zip) system.
The USB-Version (sometimes called "mmc") is for the "normal case", when you already use a working operation system (e.g. the original firmware that had been delivered together with your box) on STARTUP_1 that support multiboot and you want to install OpenATV in parallel (e.g. on STARTUP_2). Later on you have the choice to boot from STARTUP_1 or STARTUP_2 (or STARTUP_3 or STARTUP_4). The USB-Version can be copied on a USB-stick or on a internal or external HDD (internal always preferred!!!).
--> In case flashing won't work from USB-stick, please change to another USB-stick, better an older and smaller one (like 2GB or 4GB, exactly the time to activate the old promotional gifts).
The RECOVERY-Version (sometimes called "recovery_emmc" or "full_recovery_emmc") is for the "emergency case" (when box is "dead") or in case your working operating system doesn't support multiboot at all and you have no other chance to install OpenATV. In these cases, the RECOVERY-Version have to be copied on a USB-stick first, then switch power off, plug USB-Stick into box, press STANDBY-Button* of box and switch power on simultaneous. After 5-10 seconds you can release STANDBY-Button* (after flashing-process has started). The Box will display the flashing-prcess on its' display (if available) and/or USB-stick is blinking).
*= In case the SetTop-Box is not equipped with a STANDBY-Button, during this stage please press any button on your remote control instead. For some boxes you have to press green_button instead of STANDBY-Button
But be careful: The RECOVERY-Version will destroy all existing operation systems and data. It's like a reset to "OpenATV factory settings" and your old operation system incl. your settings will be gone forever!
