Hi everyone,
I am experiencing severe performance issues with my Zgemma H11S and I hope someone can clarify if this is a known hardware failure or a fixable software issue.
The Problem:
My box has a constant Load Average of around 12.0, even when the CPU is 95% idle. When checking top via SSH, I see multiple kernel processes stuck in Status "D" (Uninterruptible Sleep).
Current top output:
load average: 12.17, 11.00, 6.4
Tasks: 175 total, 2 running, 161 sleep, 12 d-sleep
%Cpu(s): 1.5 us, 2.9 sy, 0.1 ni, 95.5 id
...
PID USER S %CPU %MEM
1165 root D 7.0 0.0
1324 root D 2.7 0.0
1164 root D 0.7 0.0
(Total of 12 processes in D state)
What I have tried so far:
Reflashing: I tried flashing various images (OpenATV and others) via USB.
Recovery: I attempted a full Recovery EMMC flash.
The Result: Even though the flash process seems to complete, the box reboots into the old settings/images. Nothing is actually being overwritten on the internal flash.
Hardware: I removed the SD card and all USB devices, but the "D" state processes and the high load remain.
My suspicion:
It seems like the internal eMMC storage has gone into Read-Only mode due to a hardware defect, causing an I/O deadlock (hence the Load 12).
Questions:
Is a Load of 12 with "D" state processes normal for this box, or does it confirm a hardware defect?
Is there any way to force a write to the eMMC, or is the chip physically dead?
Has anyone successfully managed to bypass a dead eMMC by booting entirely from a MicroSD card on the H11S?
Thanks in advance for your help!
