Yes a fibre connection is a lot more stable, ive not had any drops in connection for years now. I use the hub simply for the phone to be used with sipgate, it makes a nice alternative to some custom made solutions.
Also remember if u get a fibre connection virgin can offer speeds up to 50mb and are currently testing 100mb!
The cap simply slows down your connection if you download a lot during peak hours, if your downloading lots its best just to set it going over night!
Hi Skinbobuk,
I have a BT land line with BT Home hub 2.0 for my broadband, but have suffered badly with it, i have 2 pcs running off of hub wirelessly and ofcorse my spiderbox, what do you recommend i do try the virgin but then can i still connect my stb with pcs wirelessly and anything else i need or stay with bt and just change my hub/router, is the cap really that bad and when is it at its worst as i use pc during the day and would it support old pc with debian server and spiderbox would cap affect this, how bad is cap, I get at the mo at best just under 4mb usually no better than 3mb ?????
Cheers

P.S - What do you mean by use hub for sipgate, is this virgin hub and whats sipgate ???
Can I ask what a CAP is?
I use virgin broadband, but the cable version not adsl. I cant fault it personally. The caps are a bit of a pain in the arse if u like to download a lot during the day, but other than that its faultless for me.
Incidently i use virgin with a home hub 2 to have sip calls, works a treat.
Hello Mate,
I at present have BT home hub 2.0 but have had a problem with drops in connection, so cable or as i know fibre optic is it a lot quicker and stronger signal ? So you use you Virgin with the BT Home HUb 2.0 ?
No they wont say anything to you!! its totaly up to u what router you use aslong as you pay for the internet you can use what eva router you want

Reported elsewhere it has changed transponder ,rescan will bring it back.
does it need a full rescan of channels on 0.8 west or does anybody know new transponders ???
why wats up with ya broadband??
Hello Mate,
well going to buy new router as you advised, but the service i`ve had off them over a year now had such bad connection to so called broadband service possibly only 4 months of clear connection
Well done dude!!
These big companies think they can screw with you even though you are paying for a service.. Neva back down.. as a consumer you have the rights for a good service!!
Just need to do the same with my BT Broadband now........
I paid good money for an invacom 0.3db LNB! To be honest the cheap lemon one i replaced with the invacom performed better!
so your saying the cheaper one worked better ??

Will Let you know what i get mob wise and contract wise
Hi Guys,
Just an update, wrote another email that i sent to complain about the service i received from my local vodafone store and customer service, and received a reply today and they said that they spoke to there manager and they took into consideration what i had been through and were very apologetic and instead of my contract ending in June they have ended it for end of month so i am eligable for upgrade, will let you know next what i do get and how i get on.
Just proves if you complain enough and let them know how unhappy you are with the service they give you something will happen and they will come round to your point of view.
Cheers

oh, if you dnt know what they are then your ISP will provide em to you, all it will take is a quick call
Oh OK, but won`t they get suspicious of me asking this ? is there anyway i can find this out myself ? also, this will mean i am still using bt service i am being billed for yes ??
Its not the best speed connection but it will do...
