    thanks for the clarity MasterG. i now have oscam running on my client boxes and i will leave it and see how it performs at the weekend.

    I wonder if its even worth playing with mgcamd, maybe another day. thanks everyone for advice and comments its really helped.

    put another way, when using oscam as the client softcam, in terms of which protocol to use for best performance is there much in it between using cccam or mgcamd. ?

    ( i have pretty much got to where i wanted to be in terms of softcam: Ubuntu OSCAM server >> to client OSCAM softcam using cccam protocol, )

    I'm seen a few folk with odd hourly freezes that swapping to mgcamd has solved it

    do you mean mgcamd as the client softcam or the protocol (i might be getting confused here)

    Use whatever protocol is handy for you.

    but if i am seeing small freezes on the hour on premium 28e, and to eliminate them i am trying to do away with cccam softcams, (with performance in mind) should i also switch to another protocol and dump cccam or is an alternate protocol like mgcamd not going to offer a significant difference

    audisbaled : its been a few years since i set up all the config so i cant actually remember why i would activate disable automatic updates.?

    ok, so thanks MasterG i have dropped your oscam files (along with my converted cline in the oscam reader format) onto a client box.

    but when i check its status on my ubuntu server, using the webif i see under USERS, my box is connected by the "cccam" propocol. is this the best protocol to be using? i ask this because the whole point of this excercise for me was to remove the dependancy of cccam from my client boxes. ( i am seeing a few freezes on my white card so it was suggested to update cccam softcam to oscam)
    Is the use of the cccam protocol correct for the oscam softcam on client boxes?

    You also need dvbapi enabled in oscam.conf and an account setup for it in oscam.user. I have already done this for you in the attached files.. Just pump the converted c line / [reader] into oscam.server..

    MasterG do you mean those 3 attached oscam files are for my client box?
    does this also mean my server config in post 1 is fine for oscam to oscam?

    i have run the cccam to oscam convertor and pumped a c: line into it but this hasnt worked when i copy the conversion to oscam.server on my other box.
    i dont actually know if i should be converting a cline, or if i should be taking a different approach.

    i need a bit of help with my oscam config because i want to swap my client boxes (around the house) from using cccam to oscam

    My current setup is a Ubuntu server running oscam -r9584 with a white card. i share my card around the house using cccam with several boxes running openvix using cccam 2.30.

    i want to swap these boxes cams to oscam. i am not sure how to configure my sever (if anything needs editng), protocols, ports etc, and i am not 100% on the config for oscam on the client boxes (to replace cccam)

    server config

    oscam.conf
    [global]
    logfile = stdout
    nice = -1
    preferlocalcards = 1

    [cache]

    [newcamd]
    port = 10000@0963:000000
    key = xxxxxxxxxxxxxeditiedxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    keepalive = 1
    mgclient = 1

    [cccam]
    port = xxeditedxx
    nodeid = 0A0xxeditedxx011
    version = 2.0.11
    reshare = 0
    reshare_mode = 0
    ignorereshare = 1

    [webif]
    httpport = 9999
    httpuser = xeditx
    httppwd = xeditx
    httprefresh = 15
    #httpallowed = 85.255.235.212,127.0.0.1,192.168.0.0-192.168.254.254
    httpallowed = 0.0.0.0-255.255.255.255
    httpdyndns = xxxx edited dns xxxxx

    oscam.user
    [account]
    user = lounge
    pwd = xxxxxxxx
    au = 1
    group = 1

    [account]
    user = bedroom1
    pwd = xxxxx
    group = 1

    oscam.server
    [reader]
    label = skyuk
    protocol = pcsc
    device = 0
    caid = 0963
    detect = cd
    group = 1
    emmcache = 1,2,3
    blockemm-unknown-u = 1
    blockemm-u = 0
    blockemm-s = 0
    blockemm-g = 1
    audisbaled = 1

    for my client boxes, how do i set up the oscam.server file to recieve the incoming line from my server?

    i think it will be a lot less risk to swap cccam for oscam on my boxes first rather than update my server. seems more logical to take this approach.

    thanks for ideas about streamboard for updating my ubuntu server, i do remember my install script was from this forum and pretty sure it included streamboard. i will most likely do this after i swap my client boxes over to oscam.

    monkfield now now, your not sugesting this kind of thing goes on in this forum ?

    payserver, wheres this come ? not a chance mate. i didnt suggest use of one and i deplore these blood suckers. i have had my own white card tucked away in my omnicard reader since 2013 and i dont share with any other server.

    the freezes are somewhere between my server (running oscam 9584) and my cccam boxes around the house (running openvix cccam 2.30), all on the same lan.

    since i dont often tinker in linux, i am aware i need to understand a bit clearer the easiest pain free way to update oscam. Is it as simple as replacing of the bin file and oscam carries on working after a service restart?

    hi everyone,

    i am running Ubuntu 14 x64 desktop with OSCAM 9584. Its been running smooth and i haven`t updated anything in 2 years on my server as i truly believe in "dont fix it if its not broken". Especially when i dont do enough regular linux to remember how i installed stuff.

    Anyway, my question is, do i need to update my OSCAM version?. i am seeing 5-8 second freezes often on the hour and especially coinciding with kick-off of football matches on 28e. It's not bad and it doesn't tend to happen more than a few times a day. Plus i noticed recently HD channels from the other sports provider (who offer European games midweek) has dropped off and no longer clear, is this normal for everyone or does a later version of OSCAM fix this?

    thanks

    guys, i need a little help. I am runnig cccam 2.2.1 on a Ubuntu 10.4 server. I i have a SLY local without Boxnation but i do get Boxnation from another peer.

    I want to block my local from attempting to open Boxnation but i still cant get SMARTCARD SID REJECT to work, can someone check my syntax is correct?

    my reader in the cccam.cfg file is: SERIAL READER : /dev/ttyUSB0 smartreader+

    i have added this line to try and block Boxnation,Premier and setanta : SMARTCARD SID REJECT: /dev/ttyUSB0 0 { C7A7,C7A8,C7A9,1795,C5CB }
    (This was created by the SID assigner software and i just sawpped out ASSIGN for REJECT.)

    I have also tried SMARTCARD SID REJECT: /dev/ttyUSB0 { C7A7,C7A8,C7A9,1795,C5CB } and this doesnt work either.

    i am running cccam 2.2.1 and since its a Ubuntu server i havent stopped and restarted cccam believing that there is no need to. (other live changes "on the fly" seem to work without a stop/start)

    cheers
