I've found the stability on HD, is way better than USB, using the Hyperion image. I haven't had one green screen since the install both channels recording perfectly as well. I think it is the extra memory available.

is there any way this fix could be applied to Hyperion v1 image, or the v2 whenever it finally gets released for NBOX? I've only just got my Hyperion image running stably and don't want to mess with it!! :)

any reports on what this firmware is like. stable, any features, etc? cheers Has there been an update since May?

In the beginning on the HDD I was still getting errors viewing channels with black screen but with a few tweaks it's running great, recording two channels, recording from standby, everything as it should. tweaks included:
changing oscam to a newer version (from 7750 to 8### something, changed skin to simple.hd got rid of the picture in picture on the simple EPG (not the one from pressing EPG button), and changed it so that i can see the next three things coming up on each channel which is handy :)
I think a lot of the problems have been solved by enabling the swap file on the HDD. It only ever uses a minute amount (1MB) but that was enough previously to cause a GSOD as it would run out of memory
I was beginning to lose hope of ever getting it working stably, but touch wood seems to be doing just that now.now where's Hyperion 2! :)

just to say i reinstalled a different nand copy (the one in the first post) and managed to access disk manager and install to HDD. It was too late to verify how much better it is though, will be having a play tonight.
-
thanks can i ask how you got it on disk? what did you see in disk manager when you accessed it, all I get is a message popup timeout showing me the disk and disk size. Then when that timer runs out, the box crashes.
Hopefully somebody can give me a hand with the way to do it via telnet (format and partition the disk), then I might be able to get Hyperion onto the hd
-
also I get the juddering on the HD sometimes, does anybody have auk supplier and list of the correct capacitors to buy if i decide to go down that route in the future (although so far so good on 1080p25hz

Here is the version for usb/hdd For best installation I first installed the NAND version in NAND, then formatted the hdd from blue panel install manager/disk manager (Partition1 -1gb ext3, Partition 2 128mb swap, partition 3, left free space, ext3).
Go to mount manager and mount /dev/sda3 to /hdd
Then send the hdd version from this post to /hdd using winscp or similar
Then go to blue panel - install manager, and select install image on sda1, and select the image you sent to /hdd
Wait until install completes, then once finised, turn off and on, and on turning on, repeadedly press up arrow on the front of your receiver until you get to HDD1, then press OK
This should run Hyperion from the HDD partition you just installed it on, and you will have more space for plugins as you just installed it on a 1GB partition. It is best to install it on HDD1 after a clean install on NAND with the same image, or it might have a couple of plugin incompatibility issues like I found when I had Nebula Zero on NAND and Hyperion on HDD1
So I've installed Hyperion on to the Nand, but I'm getting a lot of GSOD's. When U try and follow the instructions above and goto the diskmanager to perform the formatting and partioning i get another GSOD. looking at the log it displays when it breaks it always seems to be something skin related missing. How did you not experience this. Can anybody advise how to telnet to the box HD to perform the same as detailed above instead of using the disk manager, or a fix for the GSOD's? I was using the shock2kuk posted link to anonfiles : https://anonfiles.com/file/3b58b37ee...dd921f3fa415eb but I'm guesing this is probably the same image as in the first post anyway.
Getting so annoyed recently with this box, I hope there is a stable end to all this!! anybody have great problems with channel 5 too? (UK) It drove the missus mad for Big bro

Hi,
I seem to have a problem with the tuners. Both are definitely working but they don't seem to work first time. As an example if I'm on Discovery and then zap to one of the front channels channel5, etc then it won't work and I'll get a black screen. But if I then zap to the next channel, say sly 1, and then straight back to channel 5 then it will work. I think the same problem is happening when it records and so I'm getting a lot of black recordings. If I want it to record properly I need to have prezapped to the channel, confirmed it's working and then it's ok.
Both tuners are setup and working though as far as i can see and I'm sure I sometimes get two things recording at the same time.
weird!! any ideas? It's really bugging the wife as she keeps missing big brother (not a bad thing) he he
thanks in advance :)

Took it apart, gave the wires a wiggle put it back together and the panel works again!
This is fun! :)
-
Overnight my panel display has disappeared. I'm hoping its a software thing. Will open it up tonight and see if there is a wire loose :(
-
I got this working in the end. It was a faulty wire. Had to open the box up and check the power and data cables. Put it back together and it recognised the drive. Phew.

This issue with cccam only working on one channel at a time. Is that specific to the firmware or to the box in general?

Hi
What is the correct procedure to partition and mount the HD?? I somehow managed it first time around but on the new image I'm using it I can't remember how I did it.
If somebody answers hopefully this may help somebody else that gets stuck like me too :)
Thanks
Mark

Drove home on lunchbreak to try as it was bugging me. Installed straight away :) uploaded the channel list. I managed to crash it when channel surfing but I'm hoping that's because I don't have cccam setup yet which I'll do tonight along with picons hopefully.
Thanks for all the help hopefully I can repay in the future! :)

This is updated with b4t not free box!!! :)
-
Arrrgh :) it was because shock2uk had postedin the pkt Hyperion firmware thread saying they updated with freebox. Well that would explain the problem.will try it tonight, thanks for the help!!!
-
\i really can't fathom why this update on freebox keeps failing. trying to install the new hyperiod image but it just keeps going from prog to fail. tried a bunch of usb keys, fat16, fat32 everything i can think of.
press in powerbutton, plug in, changes from uboot1.3.1 to prog and then goes to fail.
is there anything you can think of im doin g wrong. the three files should be on the root of the usb key yes?
-
ok so im updating it correct but it keeps going prog>fail. I've tried a bunch of usbkeys. I have all three files on the usbkeys. I can't think what I'm doing wrong. Nebula installs using b4t so there is nothing wrong with the box?
-
Thanks, I can do the last bit by holding the power button when booting up freebox. it then goes from Prog>Fail though. Is it a problem with the firmware? it's the new one the duck PLI one
thanks
