thank you very much to all of you i am really grateful, im off to france on thursday and in work every day before that so im not going to get a chance to play with the box until i return around the 18th which is a shame. i will be taking my laptop so its a chance to read up but i wont be able to put in to practice as my only internet out there is my mobile wifi dongle and that's pretty slow in france, once im home i will be logging in and having a good play with the box. once again many thanks for your promt help.

thank you very much, it took a while to get my head round the old cable box but once i got it up and running i was fine and ended up being a source of information for others. ive got a few hours this morning to play with the dreambox before going to work. thank you once again.

does anybody on the forum live in the above area that can meet up with me and advice me on setting up my dreambox 800 hd clone, i have read and read the forums but i just can not find out how to get this box running on anything but basic free to air.
what i need is ALL the basics, its fine talking about "bouquet and cccam and frames etc etc" if you know what these items actually do, im no slouch having been a cable starview user for years but i just can not get my head round this box, it wont even detect a belkin wifi stick to connect to the house its probably just the driver but i can not put the driver in without a connection !.
all i want is for this box to be up and running in the c/s world so i can get my wife off my back about purchasing something that is currently sat idle, once its working then i can take my time learning all the good things it can actually do.
when i boot the box it comes up with a screen saying "gemini project" so i asume the box has had some "software" installed, however i have no proper epg and non of my paid for channels appear never mind anything else. thank you in anticipation of a local techi being able to help me.

ps, ive had conflicting info regarding cccam, ive been told that "you need to join a site that has the info and pay a subscription" and ive also been told that this is not true as everything is available free ! which is correct ?.

thank you, i got carried away chatting to friends at work and totally forgot what time it was and ended up forgetting to bid on the box before it ended, however it did not sell and the seller is pretty local to me so ive pm'd him to see if he will still sell it. i want to take it with me to my house in france on thursday rather then take the bulky *** hd box again.

i am about to buy my first receiver running on linux but need some help, ive been on cable for years and pretty much new nothing about cable boxes at first but learnt pretty fast how to keep them operational.
well now due to me having a holiday / retirment home in france i use satellite equipment and im totally lost at the moment, im off to the house next thursday and im looking at a dreambox receiver that has the following info attached to it,

now i apologise sincerely if im not supposed to have posted quotes like this but i need advice, so here goes, is this box "plug and play" as stated or does it need any further work to get it up and running ? ive read the forum tonight but im starting to wonder if its as easy as the old cable boxes the most confusing for me is everyone seems to know whats going on and i can't find the basics such as what exactely is "cccam"
