Hi all, so are we saying that if someone was to get a multi room subs re started ( old ***+ box) rather than keep it in the sly box put it straight in the card reader and get Oscam to wake it up from retirement? Would this work or still on good?

Have had a little look around the forum regarding peering, I understand be principles behind peering but was seeing if anyone knew exactly what it does.. I am to believe say for instance I have package A and I then peer with someone who has package B my f5 box connect to the my server that has package A will then be able to view channels from both Package A and B?
Assuming the above is correct I would assume to decode any signal from package B through a peer would add a small amount of time extra to decode rather than coming from package A?

I'm back after a little absence, I guess the situation with sly and the new paring hasn't really chanced much in the last 6 months... so im guessing its going to be another 6 months for them to bugger it up for everyone...
Ive still got all the kit sitting here and now some time on my side so im going to give this little lot a go... just a little questions that im sure has been asked a million times... using a Thompson box with a *** sub do i need to re-pair this with my reader or just take it out the box and put it into the reader....Im pretty sure the rest of it is straight forward.

Ahh I see... I guess the round trip going from the end user.... to the vps... to the local card... then back to the client... would create a few more ms on the connection. But in saying all this once I have set up my first trial server... I might give it a go... is it hard to setup?

Just having a little nose around on the forum and looked at people having a Linux VPS and CS from that... but surely you need to have a local card reader attached to the server for this to work? Or have I missed a trick?

Indeed this is correct, I just don't know how the big pay server websites can still stay alive when they are so easy to find.... Is it me just being stupid or have i missed a trick here!! Some pay servers must operate from the uk?!

I think I might take the plung and just get on with this. if it goes it goes... if it stays for 12 months its a bonus... plus im sure some boffins will find a way! Just to clarify what would be the best software and ways to update etc the software.. My plan is to hit this running in the next few days so want to be 100%

What I have decided to do is wait until the august update period has been completed and see if anything has happened... in the mean time things are on hold. Just out of curiosity I have a old box with a card in it.. when calling $ky to re activate they have informed me that they will just turn the card back on.... when they do this do I just place the card in the card reader and then update via the computer or will I have to place it in the box to re activate it and then run the risk of it being f**ked? any information would be appreciated.

Right, I have managed to get all the bits together to set this little experiment up between my family and friends. As for the card sharing side of things I have purchased the reader recommended above. As for the *** card I want to keep my existing hd box in my main room do I add a multi room to my subscription then ones the guy had been to install it just take card and put it in the card reader? Will this work? Anything I need to do as I read that once the card goes in the box it then won't be any good in the card reader? Any help would be great

Just out of curiosity why would you say August? And agreed with as on door closes another one will open... I would assume the software would be able to get around the new pairing system
