My dish got moved a little by the winds(generic *** one) meaning I lost all signal, I used a pole to push the dish back but then knocked off lnb, I borrowed a ladder and when I go up to put it back I cant work out exactly what to do(partly as ladder is a little short so I am below the dish) What confuses me is so I put it on end and slide it on, or on top and screw it in? If so I assume the original screw is lost so what kind of replacement can I use? It looks like a modern one which has no adaptor, just a metal part that moves up and down.

EDIT : looking online its a mark 4 one.

To be clear I already have my own brand new cable that I checked before I purchased, he did ask to see it when he arrived and said its the correct cable so he would use it, and I did have a new quad lnb but he said theres already a quad already on it but 3 were being used(though think he was looking at wrong dish as I checked and its only a dual with both used)

So he just wanted £80 to attach the lnb to the dish and attach my own cabling to the wall, there was even holes in wall where there used to be aerial cable so he didnt need to drill to get into building!

I do have a sat finder I borrowed but I have no ladder, only real chance is to ask my foreign neighbour across the road whom I dont get on with as they enter my building and let their dogs poop everywhere and bark at all hours then whinge if you tell them to stop, they are self employed handymen I think, have been told they can do it on the cheap too but dont want to reward their bad attitudes.

This is in the Glasgow area, but the same installer quoted like £80 for a freesat installation and dish AND box on his website thats with his own cabling!

Thanks, what I am unclear about is if the lnb was needed to be hooked to the mount to get a signal or was that the dish or both.

I managed to straighten the dish out with my pole but its the lnb that is just a pain.

I did want to add a quad to it anyway and run single feeds to the bedroom but no experience with that and I live in a 1st floor flat so dish is like 10 feet off ground.

There is a dish from my downstairs neighbour who doesnt even use *** and its easily reachable just standing on ground as hes in a ground floor flat its just I would have to somehow mount the cable to the wall. I did but the cable, think it was 100m from Ebay but never did it.

I would just use a local company but they wanted like £80 to run 2 feeds and attach a lnb to the wall to the dish that is already there.

I have a Amiko 8900, was heavy wind for a few days and was fine at first then went to bed one night and next morning nothing so reset box and nothing, then went outside and noticed dish was slightly off centre i.e if it was a clock and 3 was normal it was 4 or 4.5.

I left it a few weeks as was busy due to christmas but really miss tv! Earlier today I managed to reach the dish with a old shower pole and pushed the dish up a little so its pointing straight again but knocked off lnb. Wondered if I can get it working without borrowing a ladder to put it back on(thats if even then it gets a signal)

I use a Amiko Alien 8900 with a crt and the problem is no matter if 4:3 or 16:9 the edges are cut off as the picture is stretched a little too much at the sides so I wanted to just edit it slightly so I get the whole picture in the screen so wondered if a plugin existed for this?

Ok, got the box new in May last year, its a original not a clone and came preset up with channel lists/bouquets for my area.

Apart from the minor issue of having to use the remote slow i.e if I was scrolling channel list or in menu and did it too fast it would pause the menu(not the video) and if I continued it froze the box.

So that was the only main thing I had a problem with.

Now and again I had a minor issue such as lost the channel list twice within a few days last summer but a settings restore got them back but now have my biggest issue.

If I scroll to the network tab I get a green screen with text telling me I had to restart, I tried removing ethernet cable, restoring settings, leaving box switched off at back for hours etc and it just doesnt improve.

Any idea what is causing this? If I knew how to flash myself and to install the bouquets easily I assume I can just do a factory restore and start from scratch but dont want to do that as dont know how to sort it otherwise.

EDIT : Just went for it and factory restored, just had all numbers relating ot resolution appear i.e 720p 1080p but no picture, I clicked ok and saw the word yes but now stuck on a "lava" screen.

    Have I killed my box?

I have an Amiko 8900, it worked ok when I got it but kept crashing so deleted a few plugins, only the streaming ones and a epg one and was careful.

Since then it has been quite strange, I cant use it for hours then it starts working then its fine till I turn off at mains for a while then cant reconnect, this has been for 2 days and today I checked network and noticed it was failing at ip address and the dns part, after a network reboot of the box the ip address worked then I restarted oscam and it worked.

What can be doing this? I do have a really bad router that doesnt let my ps3 connect via wifi
