Just got back from holiday and my Calcio card has gone 9996, which I think was due to expire in Jan, had entitlements until early dec I think. Missed the boat if it died on oscam or in original box though.

So far the sport cards I have seem ok.

Vix don't come with any softcams in the image

You may download an ipk to install with cccam

or install tspanel or linuxsat-support addons and install from there

I generally have issues whenever I've fitted a used HDD from PC - though this would show itself by E2 hanging on boot when disk in place. Can you get disk onto a PC and remove all partitions, not sure what format the *** box will use.

If it's a MBR issue you might try this from a PC, but i've not used it myself before :

    Darik's Boot And Nuke

Not sure if this is your problem but if you connect via SSL to a box with a blank password you will fail to connect, in which case use telnet 1st to set a password, then SSL will be fine after

Hope someone can help out with this. A mate has a motorized install and Tm1500 which he's not used for ages. Offered to upgrade his box and took over a TM nano last night. I've not had a motor setup so may have made some basic errors but :

On the 1500 I can steer the dish from sat to sat happily, although only tried 19.2, 28.2 and 13. Appears to be setup as Diseqc 1.2.

The Nano came pre-loaded with OpenPli and set for a USALS motor setup.

Without changing anything on 1st attempt the nano did locate 28.2. After that any change in sat would fail to locate successfully.

Located the lat and long settings and set accordingly. there were also settings for motor speed which I didn't change but didn't know either.

It appeared that when moving the dish it would miss the spot and carry on past the correct position - at least once panning to 28.2 BBC1 cleared briefly as the dish passed the position.

Plugging back the 1500 I can move from sat to sat fine.

    My thoughts are :

    a) Dish motor not trued to 0 / 0.8?

    b) there is s chunk of setup I have missed out on for motorized on the new box

    c) the motor installed isn't USALS

    Any pointers greatfully received.

here's a pic of the card

it currently doesn't have any active entitlements, which i think is because of the failure of the feed from 4.8 to stay updated.

Unfortuntely my static dish install's that were big enough to get 4.8 failed quite spectacularly.

Such that I can't get the card refreshed myself. The sub will be expired by xmas and I dont plan to go with viasat again.

What I would be interested in is someone who could put the box and card back onto a 4.8 feed for the card to get refreshed.

With respect to the original Question take glenviews advice and use the inverto lnb ! my mate swears by them when setting up arabsat dishes !

Sounds like a worthwhile idea, I even surprised myself yesterday with the number of cheap LNB's I had around

imo a 80cm dish should work fine on 16e ? are you using a meter or the stb And is the transponer list up to date ? there has been many changes @16e recently !

Yeah, I had hoped the new sat was going to give stronger signals but my best with the dish was marginal - digitalb ss1-5 would scan but with constant BER and Tring wouldn't even scan in. I'm just working with a cheap £10 meter on the roof and satfind from the box on GF. The 80 dish seems to have suffered over time and the LNB arm has rusted I think where water has built up, I'm not happy with it anyhow

With regards sirius i get the viasat footy channels here in devon with a 78cm but not even my 1.2m irte dish will receive the nordic beams ! however i'm told viasat romps in on a 60cm dish in newcastle ? Why not go Motorized for an extra £40 when you buy the 1.1m !

I have a motor sitting for 2 years plus i'm just chicken to set up! In practice I need 2 feeds from 4.8 for an original stb, then 28.2,16 and 13 for the technomate. It would make sense to motorise that though, I just worry on the marginals I'll struggle again over and above the best I can get from a static dish alignment

Also i would look at other options apart from the triax as they have been proven to have a flaw with regard the focal point due to the design of the boom arm and how its held in place ! i've noticed this Myself when setting them up so i know its true !

ok, will keep that in mind if I go web shopping today!

I've tried and failed to shuffle the dish setup today, I have had 16e from a 90cm, 28.2e from an 80. I fitted a triax 64 for 28.2, and tried to get the 80 onto 16e but have only a couple of transponders and none 100%. My hope was to use the 90 for 4.8e and the 80 for 16, but i'm thinking both are too small now. (south uk). Fixings are a bit limited so I'm now considering getting the triax 110 and perhaps the twin or quad LNB clamp accessory. My first concern is that neither would let me have an LNB in the direct centre position so if the dish alignment isn't on 4.8e will I loose some signal and put it marginal dispite the dish size? Anyone used them before?

I have a old 160gb hdd in my uno, which had been in a pc some time back. I'm pretty sure that gave me some isses down to the drive not being completely blank - ie had fat or ntfs partitions etc on ot which semed to mess stuff up.

If you have the drive installed try disconnecting it and see if it stops the receiver crashing. My solution when setting mine up was to boot the receiver with the sata disconnected, telnet into the box, connect the hdd while the sat box running and manaully configure the disc. Not a preferred route, hooking the drive up to a linux pc would have been better, might have even been able to do from a windows pc.

hope u get it sorted soon

Thanks, TBH I have had a motor sitting around for a year or two, should really bite the bullet and have a go at getting it fitted and sorted, then hopefully I can rationalise down the setup outdoors and see how it goes from there. As long as I get it reliable, I can cope with waiting now and then for the dish to move!

yes you can cascade uncommitted and committed switches.

you would need one uncommitted switch connected to one committed switch

Ok, I'm hoping to get a 3 degree monoblock LNB to put on a static dish at 15.8 deg to also get hotbird, however I already have a 4 way disecq switch with 28.2 and the 15.8 feed as well as a 19.2 feed.

I may have to drop the 4 way switch but have no idea what a commited or uncommited switch are and how to tell....

Althernatively Iif I was to get a Triax dual feed clamp for the dish, are there LNB's I could get tight enough to get a 3 degree spacing?

    Thanks for any help!

That has done the trick, run CCCam 2.21 for a while on TVPinfo and has opened up with entitlements until next month. Oscam still gave same errors after, but if CCCam can read direclty that's good enough for me.

    Hi

Just had a new Cyfra+ card delivered to today, have used oscam settings per thread here, but doesn't seem to read the card fully :

Any pointers where I might be going wrong? Should I expect to have to use a CAM initially to get the card live?

    Hi

Since I no longer seem to be able to use Newcs with Tring I have been working to get it back with Oscam instead. So far I seem to be able to open channels intermittently, some times it will clear for 10 or 20 seconds and then freeze.

As being very new to oscam apologies if I'm asking something stupid, but does this log extract indicate why this might bwe happening :

    Thanks

I'm using internal reader, though I think I may have been expecting to much from perhaps an old version - blue button had r1851 available, however I have forund newer binary to replace and so looks to read card now, going to test channels!

The best I could get from the TM600 with Oscam was channels clearing for up to 10 seconds. I've given up on that box and setup with Oscam and CCCam on a VU+ uno instead. So far looks ok, though the re-groupsed channels in Tring Plus had me thinking something wasn't right for a while.
