Oh dear it is getting more complicated all the time, hopefully things will get sorted out in time and we can all go back to some nice straight forward sharing.

Do I assume from what you are saying that other forms of sharing are being developed and will completely take over from CCcam? For instance Oscam may be developed to a point where you don't need to use it with CCcam. The only other method of sharing that I am aware of is Gbox, but as far I am am aware it is not very popular, I don't know of anyone who uses it. The point being that CCcam is well established and will be very hard to replace. I think the most likely thing to happen is a continuation of what already seems to be happening which seems to be addons for CCcam, such as Oscam. I could be wrong but I still can't see CCcam dying.

But one thing to come out of this is that CCcam is not dying as most people still need it if they want to share. A better way to have put it would have been to say that development has stopped on it, and so other emulators are needed in conjunction with CCcam.

Just had a look at the Oscam section and understand what you are talking about. You still need CCcam for sharing but if you share a Sly card you need Oscam to read it. But as I have an SCT card I don't need Oscam as CCcam reads my card. ...... Thanks guys for helping to clear it up.

Yes I did see 2.2.3 and I knew about it being a fake also.

OK I will take your word for it but if Oscam is taking over how do you go about changing over yourself, if both you and all the people that you share with are using CCcam? I personally don't know of anyone using Oscam.

I just received your latest news email, and it said something about CCcam being a dying project. Maybe I am a little out of touch with things, but to me that statement sounds like a load of complete bo**ocks. CCcam is the main emulator used in card sharing, and the vast majority of Linuxbox owners use it. I am aware that for some cards you need to use it along with other emulators as it won't read some cards, Sly for instance. But for card sharing CCcam is the emulator of choice.

I have found the same problem with my Technomate TM-500 Super, as some people do not post the images properly. They tend to mix up images for the 500, 600, 500 Super and 600 Super. The problem seems to happen on all forums so it would be really nice to have at least one forum that lets you know which image is for which box.

I have had both systems myself. I started off with a 4 way diseqc switch system, which gives you instant switching between satellites as already mentioned. The thing to remember when setting it up is that east and west swap places when you are setting up your LNB's due to the fact that your dish acts in the same way as a mirror. Without that bit of vital knowledge you will be messing about for hours trying to set up your LNB's. I personally changed to a motorised system because I realised that there was a lot of good stuff that I could not get, so I upgraded. It is fairly straight forward to set up a motorised system just follow the instructions in the motors manual and configure you satellite box for a motorised system. As for a dish go for a known make like Triax (mentioned by Hacksat), my dish is a Gibertini which is very well made. For a motor you need to make sure that it has metal gears not plastic especially if you live in a windy area, you also need to make sure that the motor is big enough for your dish. I have a Technomate TM2200 motor, which I have found to be very reliable. You will also need a good low db LNB, I use an Inverto myself. I hope this helps you a bit.

Whatever you do don't buy an HP inkjet as the refills cost a fortune. For the cost of the refills you can buy a brand new printer complete with inks. The new Kodak all in one printers look to be very good value for money according to the TV adverts. But my best advice would be to check how much the refills cost for a printer before you buy it, as what looks to be a good deal (HP), could turn out the be a very expensive mistake.

The best way to wind proof a dish is to fit it to a south facing wall if possible, as the worst winds come from the north. Also you should buy the best quality dish that you can afford as they tend to be hell of a lot stronger than cheap nasty ones that tend to be very flimsy. But if you are stuck with an exposed position for your dish and can't afford a better one, then the best thing you can do is to bolt on some extra struts between the arm and the dish to stop it flapping about in the wind.
