  • After years of pain with Spark - Lets make thing clear for a noob?

    Another really good firmware you might like is Vix4E2 project build006 made by Lavatronics (Anthony I believe!) It looks very similar to the stock SKY TV UK box GUI & is pretty easy to use apart from that it uses Oscam & the key files are in a slightly different place (etc/tuxbox/config/oscam.server). Apart from that it has pretty much everything built into it including autobouquetsmaker & crossepg among others and apart from a couple of crashes while setting up the box to my liking i've been pretty impressed with it to say the least considering i'd been using HDMU up until now. The only problem I found with HDMU is that the buttons didn't seem to do what they were supposed to and/or it was difficult to find what button did what, Vix4E2 doesn't suffer with that problem and it's button layout is nice & easy to learn & get used to.
    From what i've seen the spark 1 is a slimmed down triplex as you mentioned which is a rebadged alien2so you can use any firmware marked as alien2. I've tried every firmware available over the past 2 years of owning my alien1 and finally i'm fully happy with a firmware, all previous ones have just been lacking in features & how they go about things etc so I would definitely recommend at least trying Vix4E2 which can be found easily by googling for it because it's available at quite a few places. Other than that good luck & welcome to the world of E2 flashing!

  • Need help setting up cams on HDMU images

    Thanks for that info. I did manage to sort it in the end by getting hold of a test nline which I used with mgcamd and that solved the problem fully! Because of that i've asked the person I deal with to issue a nline for me which he's happy with. I have tested your way though pauldb and it seems to have worked, why that is though by only deleting a couple of lines that didn't look overly important is beyond me! Any chance you can shed some light on what those lines meant and did at all? Anyway, happy chappy here now that all is working as it should be but thanks to both of you for replying.

  • Need help setting up cams on HDMU images

    Hi all, I need some help with setting up a cam on HDMU images. I have tried literally everything over the past 3-4 days to get at least 1 HDMU image working and for the life of me I just can't get them to clear channels! I can get all the FTA channels no problem so it's not that, I can also set up cams perfectly fine on other images but no matter what I do on a HDMU image it just doesn't seem to work! I've even tried copying the folders from 1 working image to another with no luck either!


    I really want to try out a HDMU image 'cos all the others seem to have pixelation, freezing issues of some kind (spark works fine so it's not my 'gift') and i'm hoping that maybe HDMU will work for me where others fail because at the moment i'm starting to regret buying an Enigma2 box (or at least the alien 8900!) 'cos the ***box f5 although not perfect didn't have the issues i'm facing now!


    It's Sly uk i'm trying to work with so if any other UK member with the same or similar box can point me in the right direction i'll be grateful. I've even tried following guides, specific HDMU cams, everything and I still get the same result so if anyone can put me out of my misery.....

  • Need help in changing resolution of a backup image!

    I'd already introduced myself but due to the way the forum is set it makes it hard for new members to post directly after introducing themselves because the post has to be approved 1st! Anyway, introduction is done and up so does anyone have any ideas of what to try? Is there a file buried in the file systems somewhere that I can change to set the right resolution at all?

    Can anyone tell me where to place the HDMU softcam manager.py file please? I've tried placing it in the python plugins folder but I still get no option for it even after a restart of the system! Because of this I can't load up any softcams or use any HDMU image as I can't use backups at the moment as most of them are set for 1080i etc and i'm stuck with Scart at the moment and have no idea how to change the resolution as I can't see the screen, only hear what people are saying! Any help appreciated 'cos most of the images i've been able to use aren't my cup of tea to be honest!

  • Need help in changing resolution of a backup image!

    Hi all, I'm just experimenting with a load of different images for my alien shd8900 but a lot of the backups are obviously set for 720p or 1080p and as i'm using a scart connection all I can hear is sound but I can't see anything! I've tried pressing al different buttons on the remote including the V format button but it stays the same! I'm probably missing something very simple but as i'm new to all of this i'm completely at a loss! I've tried searching for my answer but I don't seem to come up with anything useful so i'm throwing it out there to all you more experienced to see if there's an answer to my problem!
    I really need to try out some of these backup images 'cos they have various fixes or come with all the add ons I want pre installed as it seems that these boxes aren't quite updated with standard updates as most other boxes are! I would ultimately just plug it in to a HDMI TV but I don't have one at the moment and the only way of doing so would be to use my PC screen but then i'm going to need to buy a new lead for it too so if I can get it done without much hassle then i'd be more than happy!
