How to flash a Dreambox DM520 HD via a Browser or Telnet

There are two different methods for flashing new firmware to the DM520, via browser or telnet / putty.


To put the DM520 into rescue mode proceed as follows:


Browser method


1. Download and extract your image of choice.


2. Power off receiver via the rocker swith on the rear panel.


3. Power on receiver, within 0.5 of a second you must press and hold the power button on the front panel.

You will see a sequence of colours blinking on the power button. Blue, purple then red, then a constant blinking blue.

Release the power button when it starts to blink blue.


3. Type the ip address of the DM520 into a browser and press enter.

4. Click the Firmware upload button.

5. Click Browse button. Search for the downloaded / extracted image, double click on it then Press the Go! button.

6. [*] Finished successfully. You may reboot now.

Click the "Click here to reboot" button.

Telnet / Putty method


1. Copy and paste each line into telnet / putty, pressing enter button after each.


echo "rescue" >> /proc/stb/fp/boot_mode

reboot

2. Follow the browser method above from step 3.

    O Host Name/ Ip é o Ip da rede da Dreambox

    A porta é 22 ou 23?

    O login e a senha?

    Leave the SSH port as default - 22

    Agora precisava colocar a Dreambox 500HD a arrancar pela bios... como fazer?
