Since early 2020, images from the OE-Alliance such as OpenATV, OpenVix, will require a password to allow FTP. You will not be able to FTP until you set a password. To set a password, there are two options:
Option 1.
Menu > Setup > Network > Password > Create your password > Green (Save)
Pressing TEXT will open the full keyboard
Option 2.
Set it by command line using SSH or Telnet with applications like Putty/Terminal or similar
issue following command passwd
You will be prompted to enter the new password. The cursor will not move while you type. You will then need to retype it to confirm the change.

on OpenATV 6.4 both options does not work to delet the ftp password.
passwd ftp -d
In my network i don' need any passwords for my devices.
I think it's stupid that you can't delete the password.
If i don't find an accurate way to delet these fuc.ing passwords openatv died for me.
why do the developers work against the users? I do not understand.

hello I am using openvix 6.4. I upgraded from 5 to 6. 4 the latest and can not use dreambox control center anymore.
So frustrating. Unless there is another way, I will have to downgrade to version 5 again and hope it works.
Tried everything else and totally baffled .
