Things you will need
Usb to ide/sata convertor (ebay item includes converter, sata and power cable 320572735943)
Sata cable
Sata power cable
Switch from maplin (Slim Line Rocker Switch : Rocker Switches : Maplin)
Screws and bolts
1 piece of metal to mount the hdd
Step 1
Put the piece of metal over the hdd, mark where you will be putting the holes and put a bend on one end for mounting to the side casing of the openbox.
Drill the holes out and make sure they line up for the hdd, drill 2 holes on the bent end for mounting.
Step 2
Dismantle the openbox s9 taking out the motherboard and power board.
Cut the white block off the sata power connector and solder the red, yellow and black wires to the points as in the photo
Step 3
Cut the usb connector off the sata converter. You should have a red, black, white and green wire, these need to be soldered underneath the motherboard, just under the usb connector .
There are 4 points from top to bottom, lets call them pins 1 ? 4
Pin 1 put the red here
Pin 2 put the white wire here
Pin 3 put a green wire here going to one end of the switch
Pin 4 you can put the black wire here or use one of the bigger pins to the side of it.
You should be left with 1 green wire from the usb converter, this needs to go to the other end of the switch.
When you?re finished, put some electrical tape down to hold the wire in place (just in case)
Step 4
Take your metal plate and put it against the left side of the openbox frame and use a marker to mark where the holes are and drill them out
Step 5
Take your switch and mark where you are putting it, I put mine just above the serial connector.
Drill holes and use a small file to get the shape you need for your switch to fit
Step 6
Put the power supply in then the backplate back in, now put the motherboard in making sure the sata converter cable goes under the motherboard and the wires for the switch stay on the top end. Either solder the red wires to the switch or use clips. Then put the front panel on.
Connect the hdd mount to the side of the box
Now connect the hdd to the cables and mount to the hdd plate
Plug everything in and test, make sure it finds the hdd and records. Then screw the lid back on.
