BoxNation Announces Early 2012 Line-Up

  • The UK’s only dedicated boxing TV channel BoxNation have announced their early 2012 line-up including a number of world title fights featuring Dereck Chisora, Nathan Cleverly & Ricky Burns all live and exclusive.


    20 January – IBO Lightweight Championship – Derry Matthews vs Emiliano Marsili

    Derry Matthews headlines the Liverpool Olympia when he challenges Emiliano Marsili for the Vacant IBO Lightweight Championship. Mathews, a former WBU World Featherweight Champion, faces a tough test against the unbeaten Italian who’s ranked ninth in Europe.

    10 February – Live from York Hall, London – Kevin Mitchell vs Stephen Ormond

    Friday 10 February sees exciting Londoner Kevin Mitchell in his first fight since beating John Murray in a thrilling contest in July, when he takes on unbeaten Irishman Stephen Ormond.

    18 February – WBC Heavyweight Championship – Vitali Klitschko vs Dereck Chisora

    On Saturday 18th February Britain’s Dereck Chisora challenges WBC World Heavyweight Champion Vitali Kltischko for his title from the Olympiahalle Munich.

    Chisora has the opportunity to pull off a massive upset and dethrone the three-time world champion who has already beat Brits Danny Williams and Herbie Hide in world title fights and gave Lennox Lewis a very close brush with defeat.

    25 February – WBO Light Heavyweight Championship – Nathan Cleverly vs TBA

    WBO Light-Heavyweight Nathan Cleverly makes a hero’s return to Cardiff to defend his title for the first time as a world champion in front of his home fans.

    It’s over four years since he last fought in Wales on the Calzaghe-Kessler undercard in November 2007. Since then he’s featured at some of the major arenas in England on big world championship cards and also in Las Vegas. His last fight was a thriller against rival Tony Bellew in one of the contests of the year and he’ll be looking to excite on his Cardiff return.

    10 March – WBO World Lightweight Championship – Ricky Burns vs TBA

    Ricky Burns will make the first defence of his WBO World Lightweight title on Saturday 10 March from Glasgow. Burns put himself amongst the greats of Scottish boxing with wins over Roman Martinez last year and his victory over Michael Katsidis last month to become Scotland’s first two-weight world champion in nearly 20 years.
