no IP found

i've been playing around with a zoom mobile route with O2 dongle and a Vonet tethered to my iPhone, my box sees the gateway but does not acquire an IP.
any ideas if i need to change something in the settings? any ideas appreciated
both connections have been checked and the internet is there.
