series record problems

Hi guys hope you can help ,I have a vu solo 2 running the blackhole 3.0.2 image and I'm using cross epg however I'm having problems recording channels I have no problem recording a channel if I press record on it when it starts but if I want to record something that's on in let's say 2 hours time I'm going to the channel by pressing tv on my remote and then pressing 3 to get the guide up I go over to the program I want to record and I add timer and the red record icon shows on the channel but when I later go into recordings the program shows as recorded but when I press play it shows the program play screen but it's black nothing plays , I can forward ext but no recording plays ? Can anyone help please...
