Managed to download HxD- Freeware Hex Editor and Disk Editor v.2.0.0. I'm yet to upload and run the program on my PC, reading on how best to utilize the program and avoid clashes with the PC's OS.

just open the firmware,it should have nothing to do with the os

i'm on WIN 8Pro [x64Bit] and fortunately is compatible with the latest HxD-Hex Editor and Disk Editor v.2.0.0.1.
