I suggest the root cramfs method, quick & easy
1. Download and extract the attached rar file to your desktop.
2. Using DCC, ftp the backup.img file to the /tmp folder of your dm500.
3. Click the telnet tab in DCC then copy and paste in the following code.
cd /tmp && eraseall /dev/mtd/3 && cp backup.img /dev/mtd/3 && reboot
