Exactly the same way as you would for a local machine, enter your login details, connect and away you go.

If you mean you want to log in using FTP from outside your local network then you would have to make sure that you have opened the FTP port 21 on your router (forward it to your server's local IP on the router the same way you forwarded the sharing port). If you have a dns address use this as address (or IP address if it is static), your server's username, password, and port 21. make sure you have a strong password.

Best way is not to use at all ftp in Yr pc.
Cause its easy to crack it.
Use only secure shell on port 22 which everytime you log it gives a new port to user.
And do a fail2ban in it giving a high time of jail.
Then check iptables for intruders. -
If you are opening any port for this kind of access you should change it from the default 21 ftp, 22 ssh.
-
nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config
# What ports, IPs and Protocols we listen for
port 22Change 22 to lets say 4122 save and exit, drop 22 and 21 and all the usual suspects.
Forward new port in router to new ssh port, connect to it via dyndns addy.
