  • Hi to all,

I saw somebody using puppy as CCcam server and decided to try it myself. I downloaded it, burned it to a cd and installed it to usb. Now I can run it via USB but I cannot find the maps "var", "etc", "bin" etcetera in order to install CCcam, nor can I make the directories. Does anyone have a "how to" for Puppy?

    Thanks.

  • Is there any reason why you would want to use puppy? - never used this myself but as a pointer, if you are looking to get CCcam to work on a light linux install (ie on a netbook for example) - then I had no issues getting it to work on Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Remix, and this was installed from a live CD to a USB. It installs the same way as it would on the full Ubuntu install. I am sure there are forums around specifically for Puppy that will give you more info on things such as directory structure and navigation, root access etc, but if you want things set up quicker then you might want to go with Ubuntu as the install script works!

If I take a while to respond, you can see why.....

No, there is no special reason to choose for Puppy. It is because of curiosity. That guy was very enthousiastic about the speed of Puppy because it was just running on the flash and did not use a harddiskdrive. Unfortunately, he was not willing to explain about how he did install it. I already have a CCcam server running on Ubuntu 11.10 and I am happy with it. But that does not mean that I should not keep trying other things :-). Hope that a "Puppy specialist" can help me.

  • You can install cccam in puppy in another place and bash commands are the same.
Only that it will bother You with Glibc as other linuxes do

    Hi Arber,

Could you please explain where I can install CCcam? Is it not necessary to install it in /bin? Should CCcam.cfg not be installed in /var/etc? I am not an experienced Linux user, so I only took the steps that I read from "how to's ".
