Kodi uses repositories ( repos) for updating installed addons. Users can also download the latest version of an addon from its repo - as described below.
We use the attached repository.shani as example. Inside the repo folder - find addon.xml and open it in a text reader like Wordpad.
Find the info line starting with '<info' and with author's name 'Shani-08'. In this line there is a link to an xml file :- https://offshoregit.com/Shani-08/main/addons.xml. Open this xml file again in a browser. There find the addon name you are looking for, say, "plugin.video.ZemTV-shani", and the latest version "6.6.0".
In the addon.xml (from the repo folder) - find the line '<datadir zip' after the info line. This line has a link https://offshoregit.com/Shani-08/main/zips'. This is the start if the download link. The full download link is made as follows :-
Start of the download link/addon name/addon name-latest version.zip
This will give us the download link as :-
https://offshoregit.com/Shani-…deo.ZemTV-shani-6.6.0.zip
KodiLite also uses the repo for updating addons (where possible) using the link for addons.xml. For each updatable addon - a line is put in the file adlist.txt in the following format :-
Addon name###download link###addons.xml link###
So - the line for plugin.video.ZemTV-shani will be :-
plugin.video.ZemTV-shani###https://offshoregit.com/Shani-08/main/zips/plugin.video.ZemTV-shani/plugin.video.ZemTV-shani-6.6.0.zip###https://offshoregit.com/Shani-08/main/addons.xml###
