How to play MP4, MKV media files via usb

    I am using DM820, with openatv 6.2, oscam . i need some guidance that how could i play mp4 or mkv media files via usb internally by DM820, would i need some plugin (media player), could i install MX player or VLC, is so any link for ipk files pls

    Thanks for reply, yes it does play MP4 files, but still unable to play MKV files, is there any plugin or another image that supports MKV format, also can i install codects to play different formats.

    Or else download e2iplayer plugin. After installation restart the box and then open the plugin. You should install the additional required packages it asks you and after that you could see a link called media. Plug in your USB open the media link and you should be able to open MP4 or mkv files.

    e2iplayer dozn't install ffmpeg itself. This package have to be installed separately.

    With e2iplayer installed in openATV 6.2 (plus all additional packages to download and install to recommended locations after opening e2iplayer) i am able to watch every mkv, mp4 file i tested.

    I plug usb stick then : E2iplayer >All > MEDIA > /media/sda1 and select .mkv or .mp4 file.

    installed both


    1. ffmpeg package and serviceapp/exteplayer3 plugin

    and

    2. e2iplayer


    now E2 Player access usb mkv files, also show play window but does not start play (it shows opening, pls wait)


    2nd exteplayer3 plugin is not shown in plugins, how i would access it


    pls advice how to resolve it

    exteplayer3 is not a plugin. It's system player that have to be turn on in serviceapp as show on figs.


    Availability of ffmpeg you can check by typing in terminal


    ffmpeg


    You systen answer you version of ffmpeg installed

    Is so you can play MKV by any mediaplayer by typing "Play" on remote control.

    Also i turned on exteplayer3 as shown in pics, all things are exactly as shown in figs except GSTPLAYER - Not installed


    Still E2Player does opens mkv files but not play it instead it shows Opening, please wait


    pls advice, how could i resolve this

    Type in terminal next command

    opkg list-installed | grep mediaplayer


    If mediaplayer is installed, System answer you about

    root@spark:~# opkg list-installed | grep mediaplayer
    enigma2-plugin-extensions-mediaplayer - 2.7+git19400+8a0ab02-r0


    If so, just type on remote control "play", case usb file with MKV and try play it.


    e2iplayer of course can play any file but also need some tuning like turning on external exteplayer3 (see figs)

    in terminal it is confirmed as under

    i have been seaching but iptv plugin is not shown anywhere, is it necessary to install iptv, is so pls any ipk file, to finalize the problem pls

    its strange, i have tried many working mkv files (even reformated usb from fat32 to ntfs), alongwith mp4 files. MP4 files plays perfectly but mkv does not. Also i tried mediaplayer, but unfortunately it does not access usb it shows "Parent Directory" only unable to reach usb, any other option pls
