How do you install oscam files with tar.gz extension step by step

1. tar.gz extension only means an archived file, so just need to extract this file (idealy in the "/tmp" folder)

2. however, you need as a binary file that is intended for your chipset/cpu (arm, mipsel, sh4, ...)

3. if you have the correct binary file, then you kill the oscam process ("killall -9 oscam"), upload a new binary to the "/usr/bin" directory, and set the binary file execution rights ("chmod +x /usr/bin/oscam" for example)

4. ideal would be to simply use the installation package with a .IPK file extension as you do not know how to install some Softcam :-/

5. reboot the set top box

You can download the attached file, extract it as an archive, and then read the "intro....." file for basic Softcam installation information. There are described installation methods with focus for OpenATV image. However, the "/etc/init.d/softcam" startup script method will be applicable everywhere ! If you still have not installed Oscam, you can use the run-level method (i.e., the "/etc/init.d" folder with the corresponding bash script + its link to run-level folders).

If you change the enigma2 image (new flashing), do not forget to back up the original configuration of your softcam ! For Oscam, it's always a "/etc/tuxbox/config" folder or another folder by your softcam setup.
