  • If an upgrade file such as this 'enigma2-softcams-oscam-all-images_11.505-emu-r791-arm+mips_all.ipk' ...is not available for your particular receiver then how difficult or is it possible ?? to load the equivalent binary file such as this 'oscam-svn11505-arm_v7-webif-oscam-emu-r792-patched.tar'...surely it's not just as simple as FTP'ing to your receiver..??

  • It is difficult, specially for not experience users (I'm one of them), additional problem is if you are using Mac. I don't know why download section only have tar files and not ipk files as it was before.

  • First, find out what processor / chipset your Linux set top box contains:

    cat /proc/cpuinfo

    ..or..

    cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep isa

It should be an item called "isa". There should be a type of chipset architecture (mips/el, arm-v7, arm-v8, sh4, x86, ...).

You can also search for a device specification on the Internet - and find the chipset architecture.

Then you have to search for a Oscam binary file for your set-top-box. Of course there is a chance to compile Oscam source codes. However, it will take longer and it may also be a big problem - to run a "make" compiler in lightweight Linux set-top-boxes.
