  • Hi guys,I was curious 2 know is there any advantage if having a grounded satellite dish in comparison 2 a mounted 1,eg,better reception,or is it just 4 discretion,I would really like 2 know, mines a 80cm motorised using a tm2300 motor by the way, cheers, mickytanz:)

  • The only real advantage to having a dish mounted at ground level is that if something needs repaired/replaced you don't have to hang off ladders to do it,lol

Most people make the decision of where to put the dish by looking at what obstacles could be in the way of the signal, especially when using a motorised dish, most of time the dish ends up mounted high up on a wall of the house so as to avoid the rooftops of other houses close to it.If you have a spot at ground level which has a clear view of all the sats that you would like to pick up then go for it ,but the only real advantage is ease of maintenance or as you say you want to keep your dish in a discreet place.
