Which NAS 2 buy for home use?

    I would like to buy a new NAS. With these characteristics:


    Fast

    2 bay

    possibility to mount ssd disks

    use from outside the home with smartphone, pc or other ....

    ease of use good web interface

    silent

    I am now on my second one, the first lasted about 8 years and is still functioning well with my nephew...


    The current one, DS716+II, is many times more powerful and does a lot.... ;)

    I third that! I use a Synology DS116 (basic 1 bay NAS), very quiet (I've never heard any fan noise), you can turn off the LEDs at the front in the web interface, loads of Synology apps to use for music, video, file, photos etc...

    Hi, I use a QNAP HS-251 2GB SILENTNAS with 2 x 4TB HDD, completely fanless & silent, handy apps & raid configuration mirror's discs automatically, it's a breeze to use and set up for file sharing, multimedia and music server as I use with the built in TWONKY. As others have said it also has PLEX built in, but I've not used that side of it. I used to have a Netgear 2 bay server with fan until my ex asked why there was a fridge in my lounge! The noise /fanless solution was my deciding factor...

    Synology 218+ . It has a lot of useful apps . I use it for : file server , DLNA server , video surveillance (it has built in licence for two cameras , but you can add more ) , download station ...etc. And it has mobile apps for remote access .
