Video tearing, what might cause this?

  • I’ve got an xtrend et10000 box with openvix 5.3.039 installed, running xstreamity and over the last week the streams exhibit video tearing and pixelation. Used to work fine, immediate thoughts were that it was a provider problem but the on a fire stick 4K and the video is fine with no tearing or pixelation.

Not aware of anything that has changed on the box so am at a loss as to what might be causing it.

Reason I use the box rather than the fire stick is that the box deals with football much better than the fire stick but with these problems I’ve reverted to the fire stick but would like to try and figure out what might be cause.

  • Well, sometimes E2 needs reinstallation...

Also, you may wanna try a different image: http://www.pur-e2.club/OU/images/index.php?dir=6.5/xtrend/

  • I've actually trashed the box and installed OpenVIX 5.4 without restoring any settings, was a bit of a faff but have it all working again and the pixelation/tearing has gone, for now. Took a backup so I can always revert back to when I'm really bored to investigate.

  • Not good news, still getting the same when viewing the stream on my enigma2 box. Read around and downloaded ServiceApp and it still does the same.

Am at a loss as to what might be causing it, stream works fine on a fire stick. It’s almost as if the box is running something in the background which bogs it down. I get the same for example when running epg refresh but it’s a blip for less than half a second when I kick off the refresh.

  • That's why I prefer Satellite TV... ;)

  • Have try the same streams in VLC on your computer just to see if its and provider issue??

The same on my fire stick plays with no issues but when working the xtrend plays football much better than the fire stick which is why I always watched footie on the xtrend.

  • This is well strange, no other changes made except to update to the latest version of xstreamity v2.59 and its back to working, watched the footies yesterday with only a momentary blip.

Going to watch the ManU match today, fingers crossed.
