  • I recently removed my USB external HDD from my solo to put to another use.

The problem is that now when i insert it into windows, its not showing up as a drive as it previously did.

Its showing up when i go into control panel>view printers & devices as a "USB IDE 2.0 device" but when i right click it, i don't get an option to format

When I insert the HDD into my ubuntu laptop, it shows up fine there, but I really need this HDD to show up in windows as a drive as it previously did

    Any ideas folks?

    cheers

  • thanks for the reply fellas

bigcheeks... i tried what you said but the "format" option is greyed out

Ten below... I'm downloading GParted now and will try that and report back

    cheers

  • Are you wanting to get the info off the drive or just format it to get it seen in windows?
if you just want it seen so you can format it ,then do as i said above but "delete volume" instead of "format" then "create volume" and let windows allocate the drive size and letter it will then format it.

  • thanks bigcheeks, that worked perfectly :)

    cheers

  • I know you sorted it, but EaseUS Partition Master 9.1 is what I use for this - It is a great Windows tool, and I have used it many times to solve the problem you had.

    Code

If I take a while to respond, you can see why.....
