Stream channels from E2 box to TV via Plex

  • Hi there,

I've been trying to solve this problem for a couple of days with no luck so I am hoping that maybe some has managed to solve this already.
I am trying to stream channels from my E2 box (Zgemma H7) to my TV with Plex Media Server. I have my PMS running on a custom TrueNAS server with the client app installed on my LG TV.|
Zgemma and TV are in two different rooms and I cannot run the cables across. So I have to go with a streaming solution.

I have been doing some reading and everything is pointing me to the following setup:

    1. Extract a playlist from E2 box (m3u).
    2. Set up xTeVe service locally to spoof a tuner in Plex.
    3. Load playlist from E2 box into xTeVe.
    4. Add xTeVe as a tuner in Plex.
    5. Profit!

Sounds simple enough. E2 -> xTeVe -> Plex - TV.

What I cannot get to work in my setup is step 3. For some reason xTeVe shows available streams as 0 no matter what I do. Most common cause would be that I have too many steams in the playlist, the limit is 480 (enforced by Plex) but my playlist has only 250 streams.
I have tried two different approaches to obtain the playlist:

    • Click on the little TV button in webif next to a bouquet I am interested in. It results in downloading an .m3u file with a playlist.
    • Export the bouquet from webif (this downloads a tar file) and then convert it using a 3rd party website (https://siptv.eu/converter/)

I have tried both options and both result in a playlist that I can use without any issues with VLC.
Unfortunately after loading that same playlist into xTeVe it fails to find the streams.
I have tried to use xTeVe and Plex with a free playlist that I have found on the Internet and it worked fine. I could see and stream channels with PMS.

So has anyone tried a similar setup. Is there any tutorials I could follow?

    Thanks :)

  • Since I've made the post I've decided to start over and try again. This time round it just worked. I have no idea what I was doing differently when comparing to my previous attempt. If anyone's interested I'm loosely following this guide here: https://www.smarthomebeginner.com/plex-iptv-guide/
Now I need to figure out how to export EPG from E2 and do so on regular basis. Plex EPG only managed to match 90 odd channels from my 250 channel bouquet.

What kind of TV do you have? If it's an andriod Tv install the dream Player and you have a very simple solution with picons and epg working.
