The satellite television service (broadcast on Eutelsat 9° East in Ku band, among other channels) intended for US troops and military personnel stationed throughout Europe and Asia will be discontinued on March 22, 2026.

The reason? Reduced broadcasting costs, evolving usage patterns with OTT services and apps, and renegotiation with cable operators to secure the return of preferred programming for DoD (Department of Defense) personnel.

Satellite television is slowly but surely dying out in favor of OTT, just like everywhere else.
