Polite notice about using other authors code - graphics - renderers - converters - fonts - plugins - skins etc etc

    • Official Post

We are seeing more and more users publishing mod versions of skins or plugins and calling it something new, as if it was written from scratch by themselves. This is just wrong and not acceptable.

Not all coders offer there work freely.

To use others work in your own mod without permission, and without giving credit to the original coder, is not how opensource is meant to work.

If you are using any code from others authors, whether that be graphics, renders, convertors, icons etc etc you should have there permission to do so. You should also give full credit to the original authors work.

Just changing a few graphics and repositioning a few things dose not make it something new, it should keep the original skin / plugin name and be called XXXX- mod version by XYZ.

Please lets keep the hobby clean, give credit where it is due, and ask permission to use others work.

    Thanks
