  • There will be many changes in the satellite scene

In addition to pay TV, many people are also switching to IPTV

Something has to happen soon otherwise there won't be much left in the next 2-3 years

It's not give and take when people just take and go.

    • Official Post

Satellite broadcasting will continue...as long as there are live events...

Already a lot of live events are now broadcast via fibre uplinks (IPTV).

Okay, so Sat TV wont be going anywhere anytime soon, but eventually all sat TV will be replaced by IPTV.....it is far far cheaper than sending satellites into space that only have a 15 year lifespan.

  • Ok what do u use for Iptv then it’s got to be a nav shield there nothing to beat it on the market as for satllite Tv it’s homing to the end of a very good hobby after20 year s pluse

Well there are only 4 vu+ boxes still being sold afaik.

    Zero, Zero4K, Uno4K SE and Duo4K SE.

So out of those, then it has to be the Duo4K SE.

The best Vu+ box ever was the Ultimo4K imo, I still use mine as my main box, but it isn't perfect.

  • Yes it has to be the ultimo4k by far what do u mean it’s not perfect could explain

FBC tuners don't support blind scan
Has a driver bug with AC3+ audio soundtracks
Doesn't display HDR icons on infobar when HDR content is played
When HDR10 content is displayed the infobar goes dark
    Doesn't support Chromium2 (netflix, disney+ etc etc)

The on/off switch on the back is made of cheese

He had to ask :beaming face with smiling eyes: I knew Ev0's answer would be a good one. :grinning face with smiling eyes:

To be fair, the Duo4K SE has the exact same issues (although the on/off switch hasn't broke on mine yet, but i'm sure it will in the future).

The AC3+ bug only seems to affect the Ultimo4K and Duo4K SE I think (both same chipset).

Chromium2 support isn't unique to Vu+ boxes, it's any broadcom box.

The rest of the issues is the same on all Vu+ 4K boxes (except the blindscan on Zero4K as that doesn't have fbc).

  • thanks for that information it s interesting to read vu. box s have to be better than the other e2 box’s what do u think evo to be honest I haven’t used any other e2boxs for. Satllite

    I think that is subjective.

If you only need a single tuner or twin tuner box, or want a combo box (single sat and dvb-t2 / c), then the Vu+ boxes don't really offer anything extra, over other boxes out there, that tend to be much cheaper.

I do like (prefer) the Vu+ remote controls though.

I can't comment on Dreamboxes as the last 1 of those I owned or used was a Dm800HD, which I sold 14 years ago, when I replaced it with a Vu+ Duo.

  • Keg to be honest I can’t nt see any new e2 box’s coming out in the next few years any way what’s up with ur vu and other satllite box’s there is only so much u can do with a satllite box u no
