HOW TO: USB Burning tool Recovery of GT Media Combo 4k

There is a few guides about for this,

but none i found explained exactly how to, so here is how i recovered my Combo

YOU NEED THESE:

1.Male to Male USB data cable

2. Some .img firmware (attached)

3. USB burning tool Software (attached)

HOW TO:

1. Install the usb burning tool like you would any other software

2. connect the usb cable to the rear usb port on your GT Combo, and your laptop /PC

3. Locate the reset button (if you have one) on the bottom of your Combo. (IF NOT - See the end of this post)

(It is a small golden button seen on the circuit board, it can be pressed with a toothpick - hair clip or similar.)

4. open USB Burning tool

5. load the .img firmware with usb burning tool (click on file file-import image) --- The tool will then check the firmware, give it time to complete.

6. press the start button on the usb burn tool software and wait a few seconds.

7. Press the reset button on the GT Combo, and keep it pressed in.

8. Connect the Combo power cable and wait, ---- After a few seconds the USB Burning Tool will begin to work.

(on my PC the combo first shows up as a new device, then the Tool begins to work)

9. You can now release the combo reset button

10. Wait patently while the tool dose its work

11. Then just follow the instructions of the Burning Tool.....

When the firmware has been loaded to the combo and the tool has completed to 100% disconnect the usb cable and disconnect the combo power cable.

Stop the usb burning tool and close it.

Plug your combo back in, and hopefully you will have successfully recovered it,

Missing a reset button?

IF you dont have a RESET button on your combo, then you can short from Ground / Negative to this point on the motherboard

Welcome to the forum, you can try the above method in the first post, it should work if done correctly.

The button should work ? It is only a on/off switch. It is worth a try as you will have nothing to loose at that point.

Are you sure that you have a usb2 data cable ? (IE a usb3 cable is not going to work correctly)

I am not an expert with Android, (or anything really) in fact, i hate android as a satellite receiver.....enigma2 is far better IMO.

From what i have read, there is a possibility of fully erasing the flash (choose the erase all option) in the hopes it repairs the partitions when flashing.

really you should take a log of your boot issue FIRST

But i am not sure how to do that with these boxes, i would imagine you would need a serial connection / data terminal.

This is for recovery via usb cable and a computer with the attached software. When complete the Combo should boot up to the installed firmware like normal.

The android recovery menu is not needed.

Yes it looks as though it has not worked.

Did you get any errors reported by the software ?

Are you erasing the flash and bootloader ?

Is it taking about 4 minutes to complete ?

Are you sure you have a usb2 male to male cable ?

You have nothing to loose trying a factory reset if all else has failed.

Read the instructions very carefully, at no point is android recovery required.

Anywhere with a ground.

Ground = Negative.
