No signal on satellite after booting

    Is my Trio 4K UHD Pro faulty?


    I am using the reciver with DVB-C and DVB-S.

    My DiSEqC is setup to 4 satellites.

    I use OpenATV 7.4 but have also tried TeamBlue image.


    The problem:

    After boot there is no satellite signal. This happens around 90% of the time.

    The strange thing. If I zap to a cable channel and then back to a satellite channel. Then there sometimes is a signal and the satellite channels work fine. Also switching between satellites.

    This behavior leads me to think that it might be a DiSEqC thing, but I am open to whatever suggestions to fix this. It is very frustrating.

    I have considered opening the box to see if the tuner is properly attached but I do not want to void my warranty.

    This has been an issue from the beginning. I have done testing with the same setup with my old DM900 and DM920 and both of those have no issue with the same setup so it definitely is my GigaBlue that has an issue, I just need to know whether it is software or hardware.



    The box has been bought online from Germany, I live in a different European country and I am very reluctant to send it for repair for an error that is not 100% (but close) of the time and risking them booting up then it is working for them.


    Is my box faulty and needs to be repaired or swapped or can the issue be fixed via a setting?

    My advice to you is if you want to see if your receiver is working, very simply connect only one satellite without a switch to your receiver, if you have a signal, then it is to the switch and not to your receiver.

    I do not think that neither my switch or my cables/connectors are to blame for this error.

    I have a DM920 with the same Open ATV image and a DM900 with standard image and none of these have issues. I have two cables to my house for separate rooms and the Gigablue is showing the same error on both cables.


    It seems that the Gigablue most of the time simply "forgets" to switch on the satellite tuner. Remember that sometimes it works if I zap from a cable channel to a satellite channel (I have both types in my favorites list). If the error was 100% of the time and I had a constant no signal then I would think that something with my cabling or switch was wrong.
    But I have noticed that if I zap to a satellite channel and there is no signal, if I then remove the cable on the back of the receiver and reconnect it again after some seconds then sometimes the signal comes back. After a reboot or standby of the receiver the signal is gone again. Is that a sign of a cable or a receiver issue?

    I hope to get time to bypass my DiSEqC in the weekend to rule out my switch as the cause.

    I think you shouldn't think that it's not a fault with the cable and the switch. In order to determine the fault, you have to try it. I told you to connect the cable directly to your receiver and you'll know if it's the cable and the switch. It doesn't matter that sometimes the signal comes because it doesn't it means that everything is correct. It is not difficult to try directly with the cable to the receiver and it is very simple to perform a test, and you will know if the receiver is correct.

    Well, it is actually a little difficult since my dishes and my two switches are located on a pole far up in the air... But I hope to get time during the weekend to test with a signal directly from one of the LNBs.

    Also remember that the same two switches/cables are working fine with my Dreamboxes, but both fail with my new Gigablue receiver...

    I experience the error on all 4 of my satellites.
    When it works, for instance when I have removed the cable and inserted it again there are no problems zapping between the satellites (port A, B, C, and D) or cable channels.
    As mentioned above I will try to find time to connect to one of the LNBs directly during the weekend.

    I don't know how far your satellite antenna is and how much cable you need, but if you have somewhere, you can borrow a cable from someone, or you can try it at a friend's house if he has a satellite antenna to see simply whether that receiver has an error on the tuner or not, if you are afraid that one switch won't work for you, first unplug the receiver and unscrew the cable from the receiver, if you remove the cable from the switch and the lnb head, and the power is on in the receiver and the cable in the receiver, your switch or lnb head may burn.
