I ask a question: shouldn't plugins adapt to images? For example, a python 3:12 image, why put an old plugin? Python 3.9?? With this I mean that the plugins must adapt to the image...

Most plugins are designed by hobbyists in the evenings for FREE. Which consumes a huge part of their lives. They are not the responsibility of image providers.

Plugin developers come and go. They don't stick around for ever. Whether they get old, change their hobby, have change in lifestyles and personal circumstances or get bored of the constant work due to image providers constantly and usually unnecessary chaging all the code base.

So if plugins become old and out dated that is just the way it is. You either hope someone creates a similar compatible plugin, or you hope someone is able and has permission to update older plugins. (That is if they can make sense of the original plugins code. )

Me myself have been doing this for nearly 10 years. It was fun and interesting when I started and gave me something to do in the evenings. Now it is a chore. So you have to realise this is a dying hobby.

And to answer your original point, all plugins designed for python 3.7 will work on 3.* and above. The problem with the code is not the python version. It is the image providers changing screen names, variable names, functionality at the back end which breaks older plugins. Image providers fault (openatv are the absolute worst for this at the moment), not the plugin's fault.

An image is stable if very few bugs are being reported.
An image is unstable if standard functionality is not working correctly, or popular plugins or skins are not working correctly.

Most oe-alliance images like openatv, openvix, openpli have their code on github. You can see all the issues and bug reported on their githubs or on their own forum sites.

My post you have quoted there was 6 months ago. I still dont recommend 7.4, but me personally now have move up to 7.5.1 on openatv.
